This bulb is sometimes called "The Queen of Brazil" Also commonly called the "Blue Hippeastrum" but it grows nothing like a hippie.

I was surprised to find mine having a second flowering within the year, and this late into such a hot summer, as well. The process is fast, the flower spike emerges like a long gooses neck and grows rapidly. In this case, it was a matter of 6 days from a stub emerging, till the full flowering. This was day one, today a little more open, probably 4 days will see it spent.

Still, it's a lovely thing.

O very nice Alison that is so pretty and I have never seen it before or even heard of it.
And it does look a hippy, such a beautiful colour and a short life too.
A shame for something as wonderful as that, and I agree it is a lovely thing...Cheers..MM.

I'm a member of the Worsleya forum and I am one of the one that posts seed availability.....you do not need to be an expert....please join and learn.....for example, being able to grow Hipps has nothing at all to being able to grow Worsleya....the growing conditions are completely different.....Worsleya grow in pure scoria or pumice and are absolutely evergreen......if you put them in potting mix you will have a dead Worsleya in no time. The experts there (I am not one of them) are very helpful and there is lots of great info in the old posts......I've only ever posted one pic of my Worsleya and they were not in flower....it is not required and please do not feel like it is. These are truly awesome plants worth some effort if you have the time :o) Dan

I'm also after species seed, or bulbs if in Australia, I'm in Adelaide. I already have Papillio, Mandonii, Reticulatum, Cybister-Bogota, Cybister-Sumatra, Equstre, Worsleya Rayneri and Griffinia Liboniana. Would love more of the above or anything else, Cheers.

A slightly green colour sitting here, the bulbs are almost unatainable here .

I saw a TV doco and they grow in the most inhospitable ?? mountain terrain.
