Recently I rescued an unidentified mammillaria from Big W (as usual overwatered) weeks later its now...squishy but not rotting, I've dried it out of the pot, dumped the old soil and repotted it into dryer soil, what do you think my chances are?
sorry i HAVE TAKEN SO LONG AS I GAVE UP ON THIS SITE AND WENT ELSEWHERE AS I SUSPECT ANY SERIOUS COLLECTOR HAS DONE.
IT IS PROBABLY TOO LATE YOUR MAM WILL HAVE SURVIVED OR DIED .
YOU FAILED TO SAY WHETHER YOU CUT THE SQUISSYY PART AWAY . IF IT IS STILL VIABLE BUT STILL HAS A SQUISHY AREA` BE BRUTAL CUT IT AWAY AND DUST WITH SULPHUR THEN LET IT DRY ... DO NOT WATER.
SEND ME AN E-MAIL YOU DO NOT DISCLOSE YOURS . I HAVE SOME THING TO TELL YOU THAT MAY BE TO YOUR BENEFIT
That's the strange part..its just all soft, the roots included, no rotted parts or goo. I thought I might have underwatered it and plied it with water and shifted it to kinder surroundings. I haven't really looked at it since (I hate to be reminded of failures)..hangs head in shame of being a multiple plant murderer... I'll check it again but I think I'll have to conceed defeat on this one! Thanks Baldric but alas poor mammie, I knew him hardly at all!!
I just didn't water it enough (hanging head in shame) I repotted it and started watering it twice as much and ta da! It has firmed up again nicely. See there is always hope!
