Not all of us are up the hill like you TW. I will be golfing at Superstition Mountain Sunday but it is not really a mountain and still will be 110. Oh well Hill? Dude I am from TX, this is not no freaking hill where I come from, its a rock of a mountain sitting up here at 5400 feet. :>) Just giving you a hard time. If it makes you fell better we have touched 100 up here a few times, but as you know if we hit 100, you hit 120 or more down there in the valley. At least up here if it does hit 100 during the day, it is real pleasant just after sunset as this very dry thin air up here cools off real fast. Just about every morning you need a sweater or light jacket if out early. Now if it would just rain a bit. We only get about 4.5 inches per year I hear, and 4 of that is suppose to come in August with Monsoon. At least that is what I am told.

That was my post about heat treatment for nematodes. Basically it's when you dig up the hosta and soak it in very hot water for a period of time. Also you pour boiling water into/around the hole it was planted in if you want to put it back in the same spot. Heat is supposed to kill foliar nematodes, which are very tiny wormy things that live in the leaves. The damage they do shows up in late summer as yellow areas between the veins. You can google for the specifics about time and temperature for the hot water bath (I don't remember off the top of my head), and also there are pics of what nematode damage looks like on various types of plants.

I'm a bit past it ,but muddle through - I seem to demand frequent change... but thanks again for your appreciation.... I've never been to Seattle, it sounds as though there are some fine gardens and gardeners too... I always think the climate is similar to ours.. needmoremulch.... oh very warm pink I should say,... in its 3rd year it's really taken off, I was disappointed previously with it..

Elmer J Fudd, hahahaha, if only that were true! Here in western Wisconsin we can go for weeks at a time at -10F, and for days at a time at -30F. And today it is +107F (heat index), with 95F actual. Why do people live here, I often wonder!!! HU- We're in the process of turning our 200sf 3-season porch into a year-round sun room and have been advised by an HVAC professional to go with a mini-split with additional heat support with some kind of baseboard radiant heat for the really cold parts of the year. The sunroom has fully insulated, exterior-grade doors separating it from the rest of the house, so we may do a ceiling mount mini-split and forgo the back-up heat. We can close those doors on the coldest days and let it drop to something like 60F out there rather than try to keep it fully heated. I'm worried that the radiant heat units would be unattractive and if we only need them for a few days out of the year, why bother? We're looking at ceiling mount cassettes and there are some new wall insert units that will fit between the studs and hide behind the drywall and since we are down to the studs right now, I'm just starting researching those too. Let me know what you find and I'll do the same?
