Basil wilt

I am in the Sydney region and my basil is suffering from a disease which after some research, I have concluded is probably Fusarium wilt (oxysporum f. sp. basilicum). Here is an american reference for this disease - - my plants look exactly like the pictures on this site.

The plants grow to about 15-20 cm tall and then gradually start dying. Symptoms include wilting of the tips, whole leaves dropping off and blackening of the tips and stems. Cross section of the stems shows blackish dis-colouration of the vascular tissue. There are no signs of insect infestation or insect damage, nor does the disease respond to pyrethrum or other insect sprays.

It seems that the Fusarium fungus is not easy (or even possible) to eradicate. Does anyone know if there are fusarium resistant plants available in Australia?

cheers,

Tony
