Interesting individual. I read a bunch at the top of this thread and then gave up, so I haven't read the more recent postings. One thought that kept popping up in my head is that she probably is sick--clinically mentally ill. Perhaps with addictions issues on top of that (self-medicating perhaps?). Some of you posted quotes from her. The ones where she is responding to direct confrontation sound a lot like someone who is mentally ill. If that is the case, then she probably can't help what she's doing (at least not without mental health treatment and her own committment to deal with her illness). It would also account for the fact that her behavior is completely illogical (plant the damn things--you'll never have to beg seed again!). I find, when dealing with someone who is seriously mentally ill, that one of the most therapeutic ways of dealing with them is to remain calm, non-judgemental, and set CLEAR, CONSISTENT boundaries. So the blunt messages people have sent her telling her they will not trade with her under any circumstances are actually a good thing! This is sounding preach-y---NOT what I meant. I really want to say to everyone out there who has posted, thanks for protecting the rest of us! If she's really ill, then she probably won't go away, but at least we have the good souls on GardenWeb looking out for us and spreading the word! I love the Gayfeather. It's very pretty! And yes, the first is a winner! Mine are just sprouting since I did not winter sow them. With a late freeze a few weeks ago and the unseasonably cold temperatures we've been having in the last few days (went down to 5C last night), I know I made the right decision in sowing them now. Remember the Hibiscus Red Shield I asked you about? They did sprout, but all died from cold expect for one. It's struggling but it's a trooper! Please post pics when your MGs are 'up there'. We want to see the show at a later date too!

Mine are vining well, but as I recall they bloomed late in the summer like around the end of July, then it's non stop. I do see a few swollen buds on mine that may be flower buds but sometimes the new leaves can be mistaken for buds. I put mine in the ground around my mail box post and put a tomato cage for them to climb, it's a great location for them dry yucky dirt, they did great, until the bunnies decided they were a good treat and chewed them down, but they did come back and I think they are even bushier now, should I say thank you to the bunnies. . . NOPE! I had them in a bad bed as far as MG go last summer, moist rich soil, little sun, no support and they climbed everywhere, even got stepped on and mowed a few times, this spring I had some volenteers from those plants make a grand presence, they are the ones about to bloom, and again no support. Go figure.

I'm not sure if this helps, but as a newbie to vegetable gardening I seem to have lots and lots of tomato seedlings. They are burpee beef steak variety (large). I also have what I'm beginning to fear is lots of peppers. My husband bought 3 different packets - a mix of 5 different hot peppers, bell peppers, and habanero. Through some kind of mix up they are all mixed up and pepper seeds all look alike to me. I know for certain some of the 5 spicy ones, but since it was a mix packet it will still be a surprise. The other tray of my peppers is all mixed up between the 3 packets. I live in minneapolis email r.l.john@hotmail.com
