soo cool. I just planted some Garlic from Store bought. it has started to sprout so I figured "what the hay". I know they say garlic planting is for fall but I read a few threads on other sites and they say now is okay. Do you think this is true? I planted 36 cloves, and the neat thing I noticed was that there were 4 different colors, some yellow, some white, and some purple. I hope they take. I used mulch because it is still a little cold here upper 40s. lows around 35.

Often for a snack I'll just finely chop up a few cloves, drip some olive oil on it, crack black pepper and salt, whisk a tiny bit of dijon mustard in there, then slice a juicy vine tomato into the bowl, maybe add a few pungent basil leaves. It all tastes like summer. No pill has been able to match that feeling for me either, so I am curious to know what ground up thing in a dissoluble vessel can do that for me as well.

Yes, at the end of a dish. A fresh garnish, or into soups just before serving. And they do freeze well. Even stuffed into a quart zip-lock straight from the garden with all the air pushed out. (I rinse first). Roll up your zip-lock...helps get the air out. Then you can open it off season and pull out a few 'strings', chop, and add to pretty much anything for garden flavor. Free herbs! I do dehydrate and it can be done in low oven heat, (my oven starts at 140) but I have a dehydrator as well. If I get overwhelmed during Fall harvest, I just stuff a ton of herbs in separate zip-locks. Rosemary, sage, thyme, chives, etc....lay the bags on the counter stacked and place a fat book on top to flatten, seal, then freeze. Sometimes I make herb butter logs but get busy and forget they are there. My herb frozen bags are more versatile and take up minimum freezer space being so flat.
