Do you by any chance know what the name of this one is? I bought it at a local garden center a few months ago and they couldn’t tell me the cultivar name. I like the way it matches Godzilla’s gums.

Thank you Jane and Mad-gallica. Armed with Jane’s suggestion of a rambler, I had gone hunting, and came to the same conclusion as MG, so it is nice to have that confirmed as a reasonable ID. It is the right color, flower cluster appearance looks right, and Dorothy Perkins is zone 4 hardy according to two different sources, so I think that is probably a correct ID. And it supposedly has at least mild scent, another plus for me. MG, do you have any other suggestions of similar roses wih more scent? I have grown a range of other roses over the years and have come to appreciate the once bloomers that aren’t blooming when the Japanese beetles are at their worst. My current favorite is Zephirine Drouhin, which does have some repeat bloom after the beetles have gone, so still suits me.

If you enter with Houzz, you can :-) Why the differentiation, I have no idea, but it is a stupid forum (has been since it was started), there has been no "yard doctor" since early on so stagnant for months on end and the "doctor" came with no qualifications to assume that position anyway. It's almost like one was intended to assume that whoever responded - the "doctor' - was more qualified to answer these questions than anyone else, which is nonsense! There are a bunch of extremely knowledgeable participants on a wide range of forum topics that will handily answer virtually any question that comes their way!! Both that specific forum....and the unnecessary and confusing cross-posting/forum tagging....are features that should be deleted from both platforms.

Thanks mad_gallica! Googling around for more pictures of Dorothy Perkins roses, I found this one: https://roguevalleyroses.com/rose/dorothy-perkins/ which shows the fringed stipules, as you say. It also shows the same density of blooms and the sparse large thorns, and shows the same color pattern of pale newly opening buds and pale outer petals. This other page: https://www.parksidenursery.co.uk/buyroses/dorothy-perkins-rambling-rose also shows the fringed stipules, although the bud density seems higher (although I don't know if that could be a matter of how well maintained the roses are, and some of the flower bunches in the first picture in my post actually show 5-7 blooms in a single bunch). Another discussion of a very similar looking rose found growing along a road side in Missouri ( https://garden.org/thread/view/108285/Help-identifying-naturalized-pink-roses-in-Missouri/ ) seemed to settle on Dorothy Perkins as a likely candidate.
