The only thought that comes to mind is the fertilizer you give specially to the Lemon.... or maybe a symbiotic relationship it has with your grass. ;^) Whatever it is it seems to be working.

Thanks John, Durling uses C-35 for their Standards in general. I assume they don't use it for all cultivars. I've been using mostly Vigoro Citrus on the mature Citrus and Avocado planted in the ground. My backyard used to be a citrus grove but I've not tested my soil. I've just received some Jack's 25-5-15 but if the Meyers prefer 3-1-2 ratio instead of 5-1-3, I can do that easily as the two Meyer Standards will be making one big espalier. The citrus I've potted are getting Vigoro in the pot and Foliage Pro as a foliar. FP is 3-1-2 ratio plus Micros. I adjust the water for the potted ones to PH 5-6 at Ieast every third watering as my water is PH 8-8.5. I noticed the potted LImes want more N than that. Below is a pic of the center of the problem Meyer. Light green leaves instead of dark. Starting of yellow veins. Some curling. All 10-15mm fruit turning yellow or black. 20mm fruit still green as is tiny fruit that just set. Black fruit and just set tiny fruit are in center of picture.

I can think of a couple different problems that would arise. Without a drainage hole the plant will have wet feet, and root rot could occur quickly. Secondly, meyer lemons love food, meaning without fertilizer your plant will decline quickly. The problem is without a drainage hole you will not be able to flush your soil which will lead to a buildup of fertilizer in your container which is toxic to a plant. Just my thoughts Kristopher

Most likely you're overwatering. It's practically assured, infact. Watering should be thorough, wetting and flushing the entire soil-mass. Then, the soil should be allowed to dry out between waterings. Use a wooden dowel or skewer stuck all the way into the container to measure the amount of moisture in the deeper layers (this is key). If the stick comes out clean and dry, water. If the stick comes out damp or dark, don't water. re-test every 2 days until the soil is dry enough to water again. A wick (synthetic fiber/string) can also be stuffed into a drainage hole and allowed to dangle below the container to reduce excess moisture in the bottom of the pot. These tricks will help you limp your plant through the winter, but they won't take the place of a properly made mix and a full re-potting next Spring/Summer. Josh
