Hi anyone reading this forum??

Im new at forums but enjoying the articles posted and the pics, we have a reasonable amount of succulents and cacti which we would like to get ID on and growing tips as well as swap some for different ones, I hope to pop in regularly.

hey there brighteyes I found another forum at gardenweb for succulents and cacti and youll have no problem getting ids for your plants over there. the place is a mad house.you dont need to sign up again to post over there either I noticed

Hi there redcryptonite thanks for the link. I see it is alive and thriving by the looks. Had a chat with my son and he also has caught this collecting bug. we had a fabulous chat but on a mobile phone! will have to find a better way to contact him next time or the bill will be outrageous.

When we just had 10 pages of old posts, we always suggested that the newbies read them, before they wnet into cyberspace. NOW we have 67 pages, but it would be nice for the newbies to do like you did and read a page a day. You would learn a lot from those posts, too.

Integrated Pest Managment is a 5 step process to be used when you have a problem. 1. Identify the problem 2. Determine if some kind of control measure needs to be taken. 3. Plant your vegetables, at the appropriate time for your area of the world. If started seedlings put down a mulch material to aid in suppressing unwanted plant growth, aid in conserving soil moisture, aid in keeping the soil cooler, and (if the appropriate material is used) add organic matter to the soil. If sowing seeds wait until the plants are up and growing before mulching. That soil most likely has the seed of many of those "weeds" you removed and those seeds may well germinate so you will need to go back and remove them as they grow, just be careful to not also take out the plants you want.

yeah that could get expensive! Im just starting out with succulents. so far I only have a few types but I can see how it can get addictive! tough little plants and so many different types you could just keep going forever if you wanted to collect them all.
