i've never really noticed any seeds on mine. I wait until fall when lowes marks perennials down to $1.00. Russian sage has become one of the mainstays for my bees & they work it all summer. give them a lot of space as they will spread if they like where they are. you can also lay branches over & bury them & they'll root. I bought 20 of them this fall for $16.00.

Wondering if anyone has organic sage seeds that they would be willing to do a swap for in exchange for some sweet and/or red rubin basil seeds. Thank you in advance.

It's too late to collect seeds in quantity this year. If you'd asked the question in July or August, it'd be different. You might try Theodore Payne Foundation for seeds or Las Pilitas or Tree of Life for plants. S. apiana is easy to propagate from seeds or cuttings. I've done both. See my thread from 2008.

Thanks wantonamara, I am looking for my daughter. She lives in the Richland Chambers area and I think that is zone 8. She saw the picture on the web and compared it to other salvias and like it best. She also lives in sand and i have no experience with that. We tilled in 2 big bags of wet peat moss and 25 bags of soil conditioner(fines) and the day after a good rain it was moist. If I had put that much in my flower beds they would have been waterlogged, so any advice would be welcomed.
