Piper nigrum. it's a very tropical plant but it might grow ok in NSW, depending on your climate there. It's available from "all rare herbs".

Ring and ask for a catalogue which he will gladly post to you free of charge. It's an impressive list of plants. Well worth a look.

I have a small plant grown from a cutting I was given but it's growing quite poorly in our inappropriate South Australian weather.

Hope this helps.

It should do great in the pool cage. Also, they don't like cold. Cindee, I'm trying to get to Ricky's but I have a graduation to attend this weekend so it might be tight. I still have the nodosa orchid waiting for you and some baby ant plants. If I can't get down there, I'll try mailing them. I'm sure the nodosa will travel OK, not sure about the ant plants, but I will try to figure something out. I figure if you missed one, and I missed one, next time has got to be a charm right?!!!

No wonder it's hard to find. In Ayruveda it is a specific ingredient in asthma medications and my friend in Melbourne who is asthmatic and recently saw an Ayurvedic practitioner is waiting on him getting supplies direct from India. I thought it was a bit of a con but seems they don;t trust what is sold locally - so I'll have to trust Spice Wrold who are very very good but I will discuss his source of supply. There is some component in it that doesn't appear is other pipers apparently. I certainly won;t be trying to grow it .Thanks for your help L
