Sometimes after struggling through crowds of Christmas shoppers I feel that way too.

You all remember Christmas at Candy's House, right? When they moved back from Hawaii, she moved over 22 fake christmas trees. She picked them up at yard sales, and where ever. She also decorated at LEAST three churches and a senior center. She KEPT THEM ALL!!! Their house is attached to an airplane hanger (thank heavens) and she has boxes and boxes and boxes and MORE boxes of Christmas stuff. She uses her full size, seat 12 dinning room table to set up her bi-level Christmas villiage with train, ice skating rink, creche, and every single building from the Manger to the Soda Drive In... Her main house tree has hard wired lights with snap in attatchments that spin, on a base that spins, I think with music... I bought her 6 blown glass palm trees to go with her themed platform decorations. Oh, I forgot to mention the handmade diaramas affixed to snow covered shirt board with all the McDonald characters from movies (Star Wars, Lilo & Stitch, oddles of ones I have forgotten) interspersed around the base of the tree where there is more 'seeing' room. Yes, Candy is Crazy. But we still love her, and don't let her OVER the CEILING decorations intimidate me one bit. I just don't invite her to my house for Christmas! Oh, did I mention the Lalique creme and gold porcelain displays, and the total crystal Christmas buffet???

Well, I received Margaret's wonderful box today. Thank you Margaret for the wonderful fall items. We actually got one in walking distance from my house. They opened up in February and I thought, boy, was that bad timing! Why couldn't they open before Christmas. After a day or so of opening and being empty, we were about to get hit with our 3rd snow storm within a one week period (and we usually have only 3 or 4 all winter long with any measurable snow). So anyway, most everyone's shovels had broken because of the extended use, shovels were a hot commodity. There were actually rumors and postings in our county forums of where you could buy shovels. Regular $15.00 shovels were selling for upwards of $30.00 bucks, and if stores got a shipment in, the lines looked like black Friday. CTS got a huge shipment, priced them at $12.99, and they've had good crowds ever since!

Thanks- all good things for us to know when buying an expensive item. It is now ;Cyber Monday'= and I don't see any prices that are different from the last several weeks...maybe Cyber Monday is just a gimmick? I had a horrid experience with buying from Best Buy- in person....first, the salesperson walked away while I was actually asking questions about the computers- I floowed him through several isles to drag him back. He then said 'I'll be back in 3 minutes'....10 minutes later I found him standing up front talking with coworkers. I again ragged him back to the computer area. I bought the HP Mini. I did complain to the mgr, who gave me a $40 off the computor. 4 days later, when I returned the computer because it didn't work, the mgr only refunded $359, not $399...I guess all the crap I went through/got a sales price renigged because the product didn't work, and it was then ok to have such bad salespeople. I won't ever be buying from Best Buy. Now....where are the Cyber Day Sales????? owbist- I think it was you that said I was already ahead $40 online.....where, please?

Me too .I sit at the shopping centre and watch the shoppers rush around shopping like ther is no tomorrow.

Yes, it's the eyes. Definitely me. I would love it if Christmas build-up were 2 weeks. Enough time to get excited, not so long as to get jaded.
I dunno what it is, but there will be a whole side of the shopping centre vacant, just me walking in one direction and someone else in the other, and I guarantee they WILL walk into me.

and to think, everyone is rushing about madly doing the shopping before and then there are the after Christmas sales.

Someone I was having trouble catching up with for a christmas coffee and I found ourselves in a throng of people all trying to find the elusive christmas present .We realised as we passed a billy baxters coffee shop that this was a perfect time to have that elusive time together. We sat and cought up and watched the hundreds shoppers file past and we couldn't help but notice how grumpy most of them were. I've got a new pair of work boots for christmas(it was all he could think of that I really needed).I had to buy them my self because he is flat out on the farm.(thats my other present)he let me have time away from the farm during harvest. CHristmas still is a hard time of the year for me but I am not the only one who has lost a loved one.It is too commercialised now and I try to enjoy the simpler things,these days.
