We probably need a little more information about the garden setting before suggesting alternatives. Is this a dry site where xeriscape-tolerant selections are important? Does he need something deer-resistant (the rats with hooves tend to leave Achillea alone)? How does he feel about ornamental grasses (and can he tolerate going out and cutting them to the ground once a year)?

Shelli~I love Achillea (yarrow) and have three different ones so far, Paprika, Terracotta and Apricot Sprite. They don't appreciate extra water, and prefer lean soil. Sounds to me as though yours may be melting out, try cutting them down to the ground as Mollie suggests. This is common in wet, humid conditions. Go easy on the water, particularly if it has rained. They should rebound with a flush of new foliage and even bloom again in a couple of weeks. Never fertilize them, and when the flowers look bleached out, cut the stems down all the way to the ground. Hope this helps yours grow strong and prosper! :0) As a side note, what do you see as the difference between Paprika and Fireland? Is Fireland more of a brick red to orange color? I was surprised at all the yellow tones in my Terracotta, I thought it was going to be more orangeish. Paprika is a pinkish red to pink and cream, for me. Thanks!

That's is!!...make sure the plant is well watered the day before you divide....and water well after....and plant at the same depth they were....take as much root as possible and be sure each division has as much root as possilby... But you already know all that....just whack them up! Linda C
