I've been growing both from seed for the last few years. They are easy to grow from seed and they grow like a weed. I typically plant these in the second week of April with the plan to repot them outside sometime after May 15th (in Chicago). Be sure to "score" the outer seed casing and then soak them in water overnight (use a fingernail clipper to just notch the seed). If you plant them too early they will inter-twine and you'll spend a lot of time untwisting them. In mu opinion the Cardinal Climber is going to be vey similar to the Cypress vine. You could just go with one if you want to save some effort. Good luck.

I have kiwi vine plant to trade, Issai from commercial like to trade clemantis, Rebacca, or Josephane or yellow one or maybe something else, Peony? email me and thanks Wendy

Many thanks to ya'll. Yes poisondartfrog..that's it. Looked it up and sure enough you are right. Guess I'll have more this year. Think I'll plant them with the loofa's and maybe add some moonvine in there too. Add some color. .Happy gardening & hurry up spring. thanks.

Hi all, Even though the sweetpotato belongs in the monrning glory family, it does not take to climbing trellises (even if trellises are available). I think it lost its "climbing ability" on its way to being domesticated. Thanks. TF The splog: http://www.sweetpotato360.com
