Your alarm clock is on the floor because a pot of seedlings is using that little sunny spot.

Your kitchen table and half the kitchen bench are covered with pots of seedlings.

You know the names of all your plants, but can't remember the names of your neighbours.

You plan to take time off work on your birthday ... because it's peak bloom time.

You live near Flemington and are actually considering having a garden party on race day.

The only reason you want to go to France (or anywhwere else!) is to see gardens.

You want to win the lottery so you can buy more land, hire some help and build a greenhouse.

Your front yard has become a maze of walkways between the beds.

Your back yard has disappeared.

You select the 'Peach Sable with Raspberry Jus' from the menu, because you saw it delivered to the next table, and the garnish was a type of mint you hadn't seen before.

You slip the garnish from your pretentious desert into your handbag and plant it by torch-light when you get home.

You know you're addicted when at rummage sales or thrift stores, people give you odd looks when they see the assortment of weird stuff you buy. haha! That's priceless! This one really made me laugh: Your non-gardening spouse becomes conversant in botanical names I didn't think my husband listened to me during any of my plant monologues, but recently he told me a girl where he works was a new gardener, and told me about the conversation they had about gardening. I was shocked at how much he knew to tell her! :D Also: YouÂd rather go to a nursery to shop than a clothes store. Me, definitely. I don't miss a week shopping at a nursery. I can't remember the last time I went clothes shopping.

When you carry your camera everywhere to photograph plants, trees, gardens, etc. When you go for a midnight ride in your power hair to do some pruning of plants along your way that just need the trimming and need to be rooted. When you travel five hours or more away from your home to attend a plant swap. When you would rather have fresh cow manure and composted dirt for your birthday along with that five hour trip to Crawfordville and all the other nurseries in Tallahassee that you are familiar with. When you dream about your garden and plants at night When the magazines around the house are seed catalogs with highlighted things you want. When you've been sick for a year and die inside when you see the plants and cuttings other gardening friends have shared with you crispy and dead because your non gardening housemate did not tend to them properly and you threatened to kick him out but punish him by forcing him to pull the year worth of weeds and air potato vines. The joy you feel when you see a little life in a plant and the pride when you nurse it back to good health.

I have a huge stockpile of onions so I can use the onion bags to store bulbs in.

Every year on the first of march I say to my DH "What is that beer doing in my tulip fridge?"

Oh Pam! Please do what I did! I was shifting house, and digging daffodil bulbs by the hundreds, under cover of summer, and before the potential new owners would know thye were there. I dug 2 washing baskets full of bulbs to bring here and to my Dad's garden in macedon. We had friends who run a traditional greek greengrocery and I called in one day and bought fifty tomato bags from them. They were only to happy to let me have them for the wholesale price :-)
Otherwise stockings are good ....if you wear them, but they do snag in the garden when you tear home to hug the roses .......

Well, GH I don't know about Rose and Daisy et al but my two daughters DO have plant-type names! lol
