We are in Southern Ontario near the lake so we do get some weather here. Our home was actually a major reno rather than a new build. We kept a newer great room/master addition, gutted the rest of the house and added on a kitchen and a couple of bedrooms. The great room had six sets of french doors and we wanted to have those work with all of the new windows and french doors we would be adding throughout the house. We were able to do that well with Norwood. This picture shows the front door (not a Norwood) of that and to the left you can see one of the existing great room french doors. All of the other windows and the french door to the balcony are the Norwoods. Sorry, these are old pictures - pretty well not too long after window install and during the renovation so a lot of things are still unfinished - but I haven't taken any newer ones and at least they show the windows. How good that is, what with our rudimentary level of knowledge, computer-wise (well, somewhat reduced "wise", maybe) may be a matter worthy of some question. Thanks for the info. I had a call purportedly from a windows guy the other day, saying there was something wrong with my computer ... I asked him how he knew, without entering my computer uninvited, and he said they'd noticed there was something wrong ... ... was I at my computer? ... ... he could help me fix it. I told him that I was not at the computer ... ... and that my computer is not attached to the internet, whether by line, tower or satellite. That pretty well ended our conversation. Gonna have to change that, though, I think. ole joyful

I purchased Amerimax windows 11 years ago and have had problems with 2 windows. The first is condensation in between the 2 layers of glass, causing the window to freeze in it's track, not being able to open it. I contacted the company which I purchased them from and the guy must think I'm an idiot. He told me that because the window was on the north side of my home, when it gets cold outside the window would do this. I,m telling all of you that if you have condensation inside the glass layers the window seal is bad, period! The only fix is to replace the window. To tell a customer that is absurd. Also, the same window as well as another window on the south portion of my home I now have both pull rails ( the part you grab to open or close window) is now separating. This piece should be a solid piece which looks that way until it starts to fail and then you realize it's a two piece construction glued together. They did a good job making it look like one piece. Now the company I purchased the windows through called Colorado Window Source states they no longer are affiliated with them. So I am trying to call Cascade which purchased Amerimax. Basically, I would advise anyone looking for new windows, myself included, not to purchase vinyl windows if you are staying in the home for many years. I know vinyl is less expensive, I would wait and save more until you can afford windows that are made of a composite material ( again, myself included). The amount of issues and complaints I read about dealing with these companies who tell they have a lifetime warranty is only good if the company is going to be there when you need them. I'm kicking myself in the butt because I generally know better. I would only suggest purchasing windows from a company who has been around for decades whether it be vinyl or composite. Seems a bit high to me for an applied film but truth be told, I have no idea what people charge for this stuff. 3M makes a bunch of nice stuff so I would check out their offering first and then go from there.
