I like those. I've wanted to try to have a pitcher plant but never have gotten one. That 2nd shot looks like a seahorse at the top. Great photos.

They're showing up more and more at basic garden centres, and they're really easy to keep if you can sit them in soft water. You can also order plants or seeds online, although germinating the seeds is a bit tricky - they have to start in your fridge for a couple of months.

You may but I would definately cut off all the flowers; the plants will benefit from expending their energy on healing and establishing roots. Where are you located? Winter may not really be over yet. Almost every year I have to protect early spring pitchers and flowers from frost-but its worth it.

My alata, a red throat var. has done the same but also my rubras and s. leucophyllas. It seems most flower stalks lean toward the sun. I'll post the pictures of my plants tomorrow.

WANTED: Salvia flava

I cannot find my records but I think Heronswood Nursery in Oregon has Salvia Flava. I purchased a plant last year and it has survived the winter and is now growing strong. It is the yellow salvia with the maroon markings you note. Was unable to get seeds the first year due to a large number of deer who do not watch where they are walkinig.
