Here I sit, snow raging outside and birds flocking to my upper deck feeders.everyone from starlings to finches to titmice to four pairs of cardinals to a sharpie have landed up there this morning. Ive been snapping away with my SLR and long lens..each picture better (I hope) than the previous. My SLRS (yes I have four camera bodies) are all film. My digital is a very goos 5 mp point and shoot with just a 3x optical zoom..great for keeping in my purse and for digiscoping. Alas didscoping won't do me any good at this range..all the feeders are within twelve feet of where I'm sitting. I'm beginning to think that it's time to invest in a DSLR to fit my lenses. Instant gratification here I come. as soon as i save up $1000. LOL

I also had 4 film slrs. I traded one slr body with motor drive and an old range finder camera in on a digital slr. You might consider doing this to bring you closer to your digital dream.

They will be going down in price and if you can wait canon is coming out with a new digital rebel. Sarah

I also have a Bluestar and I think the door heat isn't a problem at 400 degrees and lower. Other ranges also get hot; there were several posts about hot DCS doors and kickplates over a year ago. My Bluestar oven cooks very evenly, and the IR broiler is terrific. Touching the door for a split second will not mean a trip to the emergency room. When a child touches an oven door and it's hot, his/her natural reaction is to draw away quickly. This is a good thing. Kitchens are full of dangerous tools and equipment and I never wanted my kids to have a false sense of security around ovens, ranges, cooktops, knives, hot water urns, food processors, garbage disposals, etc. "Hot," "dangerous," and "sharp" are important concepts for toddlers to learn.

In my experience, a PDF loses the scale of the original drawing so it is only useful for showing the general design intent unless you show the dimension of everything possible which is a waste of time and makes it difficult to understand the drawing. If you want to give the drawing to a consultant or a builder it is far better to use hard copy prints and put them in the mail although I find most builders and designers are willing to pick the drawings up. In the past, builders and consultants have misunderstood the scale of PDF plans and underestimated the cost of a project and an HVAC designer undersized all of the ducts, so I only use PDF's for preliminary design updates to an owner but never issue them to others. However, keeping the owner from sending them to others is an ongoing problem.

I have much sympathy for you. I have just been organizing my email after being guilted by visiting relatives who were horrified at my 24000 emails. I had tried to organize it before but have had more success this time by creating files and moving stuff I need to save to those files and then deleting what's left. For ex I'll do a search for anything with our schools name, move all those to the school file. Once I was pretty sure I'd moved everything of importance I deleted everything that was left in my inbox. The panic I felt doing this made me realize I was a bit of an electronic hoarder. And to be honest my hoarding helped after our house fire. When insurance questioned that the chandelier cost as much as it did, I was able to pull up the emailed invoice from RH that was probably ten years old. I had to do this many times as I order a lot online and insurance wants to give you the Walmart equivalent unless you can prove otherwise. Kind of felt vindicated for my hoarding. But really did need to get it under control. You've inspired me to tackle pics next.

Shannon, I'll post photos soon. I've been hesitant to post pics in the meantime while I wait for resolution. The Tile of My Dreams is very distinctive, i.e., not to everyone's taste, and I know some posters tend to criticize anything that doesn't fit the One True Kitchen mold. Also, I didn't want to "out" the company before I got resolution. If you're familiar with major tile manufacturers, you'd see it and probably know from whence it came. (Hint: It's from a cuerda seca collection and contains shades of aqua, green, red, black, off-white, and gold in a fleur-de-lis pattern. This one row of tile will be the star of my kitchen.) As of today, they're making TTOMD and sending a return label for the other tile (which is also lovely and unique but not of my dreams). Thank you all for providing perspective on what I should expect.

Hi..actually when the time comes I'll be buying a pentax DSLR. I have way too much invested in pentax glass to switch systems. Someday will proably be here sooner than I think. I'll just have to be patient.

Having bought my first Pentax over 40 years ago, and it still works great, I also had a lot of Pentax glass. I have had my Pentax ist*D for a year now and have not shot any film since I bought it. It works fine with all my old lenses. The new ist*Ds also would work fine with all your old lenses.

That's exactly why I'm sticking with pentax..unfortunatly both the ist*D and the newer ist*DS each have features that I want making it hard to choose between them. maybe by the time I have the money saved there will be another one out. What I really want is the PZ1p in digital.
