How do I post a Link?

There are two ways to post a link:

To insert a link using the provided boxes below the "Message" box:

Insert the link in the "Optional Link URL:" box

Type in the description or name of the item being linked in the "Name of the Link:" box If this is a new Post, you won't see these two boxes until you "preview" your message. So, compose your message and "Preview" it. You will now see the link boxes and can now enter your link information.

To insert a link inside the "Message" box,

Copy the following into the "Message" box where you want it:
Description

Next, replace the http://www.XXX/ with your link Now, replace the Description with the description (words) you want displayed with your link.

With either method, you will see your link when you next "preview" your message

Hi Xuan! Here is an example of how to make a link to another site: Let's say I want everyone to see the beautiful Agastache 'Apache Sunset' that I was just gazing at on the Bluestone website. I just type my message as usual and right beneath the space where I'm typing my message it says "Optional Link URL" that's where I'm going to paste the http:// address that I copied when I was at the Bluestone site. After pasting the address, I just type in whatever I want to use for the name of the link. Then when I preview my message I see the link underlined. Hope this was the information you needed! When I had seeds to trade, I posted on the Seed Exchange forum. I made sure my trade list was up-to-date. If someone was interested in trading with me, they contacted me via email. As with other gardening objectives, it makes sense to define your goals--decide how you want to trade (i, e, postage, address labels, envelopes) and put that out there on GW. List the seeds you have to trade on your trade list, then post what seed types you've got available on the Seed Exchange forum. I "shopped" for seeds on the Seed Exchange forum a couple of years until I filled my garden beds. I kept the seed exchange information (i.e., names & addresses of folks with whom I traded) on an Excel spreadsheet so I'd have it for future reference. Common sense rule of thumb is be sure you get return postage prior to mailing seeds.

Karen, You'll first need to open a free Photobucket account. This is not the only way, but it is the easiest. I am including the link below. After you have your photos uploaded to Photobucket,(it helps me to have my GW post in a separate window) you just go to the HTML tag and click in the box...this copies the link, then go back to your GW post and press CTRL + V to paste the picture in your post. Alternately you can right-click and paste. If you just want to link to the photo, you can copy/paste the URL link into the "Optional Link URL" line below your post and give a 'friendly' or descriptive name to the link in the line below (Name of the Link). Directly over the comment (Whats on your mind?) box there should be a "share" list that includes 'link'....click on link and go from there. I write my comment first, then do the link.
