Well we got pounded up to 24 inches and then it drifted to 3 feet in areas. Hubby shovled the driveway on sat and I did 2 360's on the way to the barn. Spent sat making sure every one had food and water cause was not sure when could get back to them. Hubby thought what a great day to do xmas shopping, he did his lol all by him self and honest did a great job, no one else was out with 4 wheel drive it seems and those like me did a slide decided not to venture out again. Funny on 12/15 did my last sowing of the pasture grass here in south NJ 5 lbs of perennial rye. I bought alot of seeds at the seed store( think where the farmers go to get seeds). Been saveing up kitty litter jugs for my tomato seeds this year and a few lettuce for the peeps and my self. On thursday it was like 30 degrees here at 4 pm and heard a sound would not like to hear a week before xmas. PEEPS, my little bany hen hatched out 9 chicks. So nabbed up the mom and put them in the kitchen at the farm house to stay warm. She loves her little ones and since her first hatch was 4 ducklings this summer figured she needed her little ones. Going to be a long winter and need to grow them some lettuce. Thank goodness for this forum and winter sowing. ML

GD-I'm so sorry that you are having problems too! I am glad it didn't get down low temps last night for your plants too. Thank goodness I don't have to repair roofs, though you just reminded me to give mine a second look, since I just did a quick once over after chasing down the greenhouse peices. I think we got hit so hard because we sit on a hill of sorts, at least one of the higher altitude areas for around here anyway. Behind my house is flat fields for a long way, so I think that probably did us in yesterday. Oh well, last year we had to cut up 2 trees that fell across our driveway, on a Sunday morning, just so we could get out of the driveway to go to church. And just think....Spring storms are just now building up for the really "good ones" to come......

Hi Everyone!! Long day of cleaning up, but it is all done!! Branches down from the high winds ( pine trees) and lots of debris I. The pool.. Normal hurricane clean up day.. No damage to the house or Plumeria trees!! ;-) Didn't lose my glasses this hurricane , Andrew!! Lol. Good memory!!! I'm glad I brought in around 50 trees... They larger ones did fine tied to the railing of the deck. I put some on the ground after I watered them so they were heavy. Worked great!! No damage or any broken branches.. So I'm very happy!! The wind and heat made them dry out again.. Lots of watering again this afternoon. They are very thirsty. The wind really dehydrates them. I brought in the house a few special ones that have inflos. One was my Desert Sunrise. JL Dane is pushing too, so it had a reserved spot inside as well.. Fifty went inside the greenhouse .. Long day, but worth it!! I remember Floyd. It was downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it hit Long Island. Everything in the garden over hip height was blown right over, the garden was destroyed. Clean up was actually easier than I thought it would be because I set a rule for myself. If it couldn't be stood up or tied up it was chopped down to the ground. The compost heap grew to enormous heights ;-O Floyd came in with horizontal winds and trashed my cedar shakes too. Grrr. We coughed up the bucks and re-sided with hurricane resistant material. I don't know how the Pacific is for storms, but if you live a few miles from the Atlantic you're going to experience brutal storms. Hell hath no fury like an Atlantic storm. It just stopped pouring. It will start again soon. T
