Prune back branches when transplanting?

Current advice is not to prune back. Plants store their food reserves (carbohydrates) in their woody tissue and this food is important for root growth. We now understand that moderate to heavy top pruning at planting will greatly slow new root development, which is desperately needed in a newly transplanted tree.
