Mary, when do you pinch them? As I mentioned, its my first time growing this plant. My seedlings are about two inches tall at the moment and have about 6 leaves. And how much do you pinch off? Thanks, Maria ------------------------ Hi Maria, This is my first spring with these plants returning so I'm not certain what is correct. I pinched the top out of the spring growth when it was about 6 inches tall. I looked today and there are already new shoots growing from the leaf nodes of each pinched shoot. This will hopefully result in more tall 'sticks'. When you judge the time is right, simply pinch out the growing tip. New growth should then appear at the leaf nodes below the pinched out top. I also winter sowed two more containers of this plant this year to add to another area of the garden. Mary

Weldon, They reseed very well. You'll always have baby ones to move to other areas or give away. Here in my yard they do well with some extra water during the summer. I've never tried to not water them because I didn't want to lose the other plants or lawn nearby. The first plants I got form Carrie stayed green all winter long, even during all that snow and ice we got back in '10. What's odd to me is some of my pants really re seed and others in other parts of the yard haven't re seeded at all. They are very easy to pull/lift and don't mind being potted up or re planted else where.

jacob, I don't know what GMO means and maybe it's best I don't :-). Yes, my husband used to often remind me about assuming. :-) :-) I will let everyone know how the Lollipop does here. Some of the nectar plants do better or not, depending on growing area but I don't think I've ever read where the tall/stick verbena hasn't performed well as a nectar plant no matter where it's grown. It's certainly a powerhouse in my garden. My complaint is strictly with it's wild look following a heavy rain storm. Those little flower stalks get bent and there's nothing that can be done to salvage the flower heads other than by propping them up. gyr_falcon(Sunset 23), thank you so much for sharing your experience with Lollipop. Obviously it did not reseed for you and if it did, would the seed come true? Makes me wonder as I don't think I've seen seed offered, just plants. I don't blame you for not wanting to have to replace each season. At least you did notice some butterfly activity on this plant. I've already ordered one so now all I can do is hope it does better here in middle Arkansas than it did for you. :-) Mary
