Polygonum is a genus and not a family. Not everyone puts all plants that have been in it in the past in it now. Look for this one under Tovara as well.

IâÂÂm trying to ID this plant. Though I have not been to the swap in the last two years, due to conflicts on that date, IâÂÂm wondering if past participants can ID something for me. Therefore if someone brought this plant, if would have been from 2011. It may just be a weed. ItâÂÂs very tall now, because I remembered planting something from the swap in that area, so I let it go though I did not recognize it. Maybe 5 feet, and still getting taller. Growing tips are always bent over. Getting a lot of sidegrowth and branching now. The white fluffy things are just the flowers of the persicaria plant showing behind it. Thanks for your help!

Oooh. I like to buy, but rarely do. I bought Aruncus Doicus (Goatsbeard) at the flea market for $2.00. Lady thought it was an Astilbe of the regular kind, but I knew better. Nice 2 gallon plant. At the same flea market a couple of weeks later, I bought a Lacecap Hydrangea - can't remember the name... For $5.00 in a one gallon pot. Mid-summer, I bought a Variegated Lacecap Hydrangea at a nursery for $15.00. Then my daughter spotted a Campsis Tagliabuana - Indian Summer Trumpet Vine which flowers a salmon orangey colour - for $35.00. I told her we couldn't afford it, so she asked the lady if she would sell it for a lower price! The lady sold it for 1/2 price to her! I think I'll bring her shopping from now on... I also bought an Endless Summer Hydrangea. Nice plant! After 4 weeks in the ground, I went to trim some branches off and discovered they had rooted, so now I have two more. Not a bad deal for $12.00. Also bought a Black Snakeroot plant and Ligularia 'Rocket' and Echinacea Sunrise or Sunset - can't remember which. :) Three St. Cloud blueberry bushes. From family and friends I acquired 4 new hostas, one lilac tree, 2 rose bushes, one huge delphinium plant, 3 more perennial geraniums, and I'm probably forgeting some. Along with the new winter sown plants, and the ones that are going into their second and third year, it's time to take-up more lawn. Nice thing is, DH seems to be warming up to the idea of less lawn. Christine, if Zee's tulip poplar doesn't make it (and Suja decides to stay where she is instead of moving closer in), there is a source in Bowie as well. I got one last fall that did well after transplant but didn't make it through the winter. The person I got them from has many more seedlings/saplings, and I'm sure we could go get one if we ask. You can come dig my spirea (and some hosta) whenever you like. There is a big spirea that has your name on it now. (Sigh of relief!) I'll bring some parts of smaller ones to the swap though, in case anyone else wants some. And I'll try to remember the fork, but if I forget it you can have it when you come get the spirea..oh, wait, maybe I should hold the fork hostage, and you can use it to dig up the spirea.. =) Lynne
