I've seen some of those locally, mostly at Jungs but there were some at another nursery that only carried hardy roses. You can order them from Jung Seed if you want but I can't vouch for the quality. I buy my roses from them directly from their outlets here so I can see what I'm getting. Jung's website has them listed under Canadian Shrub roses.

Michael, I grew Pierrette and Purple Pavement, but in only three years, their suckering got out of hand, so I gave them away. They were about 4 feet tall then. I still have Snow Pavement, around 4-l/2 feet tall, which also suckers, but so far not as much. Mine were all own root, though, so I guess buying grafted ones would solve that problem...for a while, anyway, until they go own root. Maybe you could take a look at Frau Dagmar Hastrup (I'm sure I've spelled it incorrectly again), since she has stayed quite short for me, and doesn't appear to be suckering. Plus she seems to be a little more shade tolerant than the others. Good luck with your choice. Judith

Well I went straight to the source and got my answer. The tag was on the rose, at the bottom, almost buried. I didn't think the tag was there anymore but it was. The rose is Foxi Pavement. Boy is my face red. I swear the sign at the nursery said Purple Pavement. lol

I found some very nice gallicas at Northland Rosarium....two Belle de Crecy and a couple of Belle Virginie. (I think that's spelled correctly.) However, my kitty passed away a week and a half ago, so the gallicas are going in a little garden for him. In the potager, we'll be moving my mom's two Zephirine Drouhin roses on either side of the white arch. We had to cut those down to the ground last year, to move her deck, but I dug them up and brought down the roots...and they're back and blooming again, this summer! We have other roses we may move, including a pretty little David Austin my mom had in her garden. She believes it's Golden Celebration, but it could be Graham Thomas. She's sure it started with a G and it's very pretty : ) I also have two fairy roses that I'm going to put on either side of the bird bath. Let me see if I have a picture...found it! All the way to the right, against the fence. We got too late a start with the beds to have peppers and tomatoes ripen...and even on a good year, those are tricky. Our summers are so short, but raspberries do very well. So do apples and grapes...anything that can take a bit of frost and keep growing! Spring is the best time to attack an overgrown mess. We'll be doing that next year, in the back of the garden. We didn't get everything dug out, before it got too warm. Once the clay starts to dry out (and turn to cement) it's too late to dig. At least with a shovel...maybe a jackhammer! LOL
