if you have a hybrid type of grass, it can produce seeds but they won't be viable. basically the grass is sterile. abotu the best thing i cna tell you would be to try them. if it works, great, if not then you tried and now know you jsu tneed to go pick up a bag of seed to fill in the sandy areas. while you are at it, add in some organic material to mix with teh sand. if the areas a pure sand, grass really won't make it any better.

I have Philo's Prince of Orange, Autumn & Moonlight and I would like to know if any one has had any success propagating these from cuttings? If so, what is the proper time to take them? What size (length) should they be? From what I've read, self heading philos don't propagte from cuttings.... what is your experience? Millie

Whether it will burn this season depends entirely on how green it is. From your description, I would say it's very unlikely. If you could check the wood with a moisture meter, you'd have very good evidence that you were delivered something that was not what you ordered. Laws vary from state to state, as do definitions of "seasoned". Logs left in tree length for six months, then cut and split just before delivery are often claimed to be seasoned. They are not. Only wood split for 6 months - a year is better -can possibly be seasoned. Some wood species, notably oak, take even longer. I would pursue your possible claim against the wood dealer, but in the meantime, see if kiln dried wood is available in your area. It tends to be pricey, but is generally worth it.

To dry allium heads, cut the flower head as soon as they begin to break open, bring them indoors and hang them upside down to dry.
