Just a waterfall

Veta, that must be stone the water is falling down, yes? It looks like wood. And it looks like it was cut by hand, not a natural formation. But I'm probably wrong about that, too.

This big family showed up in my front yard during the storm yesterday.

Susan - yes, it's stone, basalt to be exact.
Whenever the thick flow of lava cools down relatively fast it contracts along horizontal axes.
Hence polygonal columns are formed that do look carved rather then natural.
The faster the cooling down process the smaller columns size.
The "rocks" in the bed of the stream are broken of pieces of columns.
