More wallhangings for Xmas (pic)

I finished up the next one, a quick sort of thing. It's like a whole cloth quilt with ribbons added for bling. Easy to do and I didn't have time for something fancy but wanted something over the mantle. The ribbons are just gold lamme fabric sewed into the seams at the sides and tacked down in the middle and around the bow with basting stitches.

I have one more to go before I finish the quilting part of my decorating.

You have my dream collection. Very nice stuff. How do you protect those big palms in the winter? I see you tied them up and use xmas lights, but what about the rest of your method? One other question, where do you get your stuff from? Do you drive down south?

I live in a 107 yr. old Greek Revival that has beautiful old woodwork with several arches that I decorate every year. A few things I do to avoid putting holes in the wood are: Command Hook, can be expensive, but now they have refill tapes and you can save the "hook", just pull slowly on the tape and the whole thing comes off. No marks, good for all kinds of surfaces. The older style of plastic clamps w/ tapes work good for lighter garlands or keeping it in place down the sides. To remove, use a small knife to cut under the tape, then a little goo gone to remove any residual tape. Placing a small nail on top of the woodwork, then using craft wire the attach the garland. Two, the light hitting those blue vases...WOW. As you know, from GJ Forum, I'm nuts about cobalt in the yard and always looking for it at GW. I'm working on a new totem now with some blue pieces they had. Your blue collection is lovely! And decorating with birds is a favorite of mine also. I think depending on the fabric, I will charge any where from $10.00 to $15.00. also depends on if I can get the lavender buds also. I am making some for some of our local shops and also some for family xmas gifts and also giving each of the girls in the office one for Christmas.. I think sometimes our office girls are forgotten how hard they work for us.. I am sending Leveta some for her shop along with some potato bags and rice bags. That's great! What wonderful 'bling' for Christmas!

My MIL used to wrap all her hanging picture frames with wrapping paper and ribbons for her decorating. It looked very festive.

Linda, - that is SO cute! did you just do a cross-hatch square type quilting? I really like that - it does look like it would go together very quickly!

Nice idea. Are the ribbon and bow yardage or fabric ribbon? I would have to make the bow detachable or it would get squished.

Bev, Gold lamme fabric cut into strips and hemmed, ribbon not wide enough.

Sue, the dk green is a crosshatch grid, "package" is a form of stippling but I knew they wouldn't show so didn't do anything fancy.

Jen, I also wrap pictures with paper and ribbon for decorations and thought this year I'd make something permanent I can just take down and put away. Maybe I'm getting lazy in my advancing age (I almost said OLD).

That is a fabulous idea and very creative. I may have to try that as well. I also love your quilt hanger. Looks like a drapery rod.
