Dianthus barbatus (Sweet William)? Here is a link that might be useful: Sweet William

Rita, Well, I can't grow lupines, and the growth of delphiniums is very scant in comparison to cooler areas. But my gardenias are loaded, and I realized the first bud had opened (yesterday) when I passed the area and caught the scent. I do love the fragrance of gardenias and hope to have a few into December like last year. I am really looking forward to your posting pics of your iris. I am interested in a couple from Rocky Mtn Iris, but want to see a real bloom. And by the way, I can send you a start of that spuria iris that you commented on if you like. Apparently they are not affected by the fungus since it is totally clean and spreading. This year, I plan to cut all tall bearded iris foliage at the end of the summer so I may be able to defeat the fungus that way. I will have more time since I won't have to go to work anymore. Night shift kills Friday (can't get tired, you'll be at it all night) Saturday (sleep) and Sunday (catching up for not sleeping Saturday night)...if I don't take it off Sunday, then Monday I will be so tired and unmotivated, I'll just drag all day and achieve little.

R. multiflora makes an excellent rootstock for many areas (mine, for one). Yes, you can graft more than one variety (color doesn't matter) to the same rootstock. Weeks Roses does this with standards (tree) roses, they have a Julia Child and Edd Tide and Iceberg & Brilliant Pink Iceberg, and they used to have a Moonstone/Olympiad combo.

I saw your post about Double Easy Orange, good to know that Orange Glow Knock out wasn't impressive. To be perfectly honest I've been trying to find a good solid orange rose that doesn't fade too dramatically since Summer Song got discontinued and was looking at the Orange Glow rose and mulling over it, nixed it after I read your post. Contemplating Double Easy Orange now. I kind of want one that doesn't fade since I intend to put it next to Versigny which has similar coloring and I want some contrast there Last night I stumbled across Select Rose's Summer Heat rose which looks closer in color to what I had in mind, and I'm thinking the name was intentional - hinting it'll handle heat better than SS. But I'm sure that's several years out before we'll see it here (if we ever do). Didn't mean for the subject change though. Back to roses sharing a hole. I think you could probably do two grafted roses in a hole, depending on what else is around and what the rootstock is. Dr Huey would probably be too aggressive and dense to share, but it'd be a fun experiment. There's a video on Youtube where someone visited Tantau's HQ and was looking at their roses and they plant them in groups of 3 - 5 VERY close together to create one big dense bush. I think all of the roses over there are grafted and they all seemed pretty happy
