Thrips can sneak in anytime and they may not have come in on your new Millenia. I have used Schultz Houseplant Insect Spray with good results. The main ingredient is Pyrethrin from the Chrysanthemum flower. This may also be the basis for dog & cat flea spray which older magazines often site as being helpful. You might consider using the RID treatment: 2TB of Rid Lice Shampoo, 1 or 2 tsp Murphy Oil Soap dissolved in 32 oz spray bottle of warm water. The plant & soil should be drenched, allowed to sit about 20 minutes and then rinsed. One grower said it was 100% effective with a one time use. Thankfully, I haven't had to test this last method, but I think it would be my choice if I encounter thrips again as it is purported to do no damage to the plants. Hopefully, you will be able to get these critters under control!

I was fortunate to view the interesting plant Dipteronia sinensis at Quarryhill Arboretum at Sonoma, CA this past spring. With only a casual glance one would think it was a negundo or henryi. Quarryhill Botanical Garden is a non-profit botanical garden dedicated to advancing the conservation, study, and cultivation of the temperate Flora of Asia. It is a very interesting place to visit. Their collection is at the most only 15 years old, so plants are very young. It will be a spectacular place to visit in 15 years! Their website hosts a very useful Database of Asian Plants in Cultivation. Dishwashers can leak from basically everywhere. A leak from the door is usually easily detected because there will be water right underneath the door. If you have "build up" - clean it. The seal pulls right off, easy as 1-2-3, and can be soaked and scrubbed in the sink. If you are generally concerned about a leaking dishwasher, get a Bosch or a Miele. These have a fully enclosed base that catches any drips and alert the user immediately. I don't get why no American manufacturer, besides some TOL GEs, offers this - it's a standard feature on European washers and dishwashers. Alex

Ok, everybody knows where it is, we just need a name for it!...Anybody knows go for it!
My Wife and me went there to see a Parrot show, [pics later] in the same time we could go inside these pyramids, [4 of them] each has separate access door, because each pyramid holds different plants an environment.

Muttart Conservatory.....I had never heard of it until I was in Edmonton in March. My brother took me there and let me tell you, the heat in those greenhouses was a welcome change from the cold temps outside!

Nice pics, Konrad, and I would like to see more!! I knew it had to be somewhere that had unsuitable temps for those tropical and desert plants, but I never would have guessed they were in Edmonton.

I must go there someday. I have only been to Canada once, but now I will have something to add to my list of places to see once I return.
