Nice shots! Lucky you Vicki.. that's beautiful! Alisande, my Pileated is back with a friend.. he's been a bad boy though. He has done quite a bit of damage to my new deck posts. :-( I hung a windsock there to deter him and haven't heard him drumming so maybe it will work?

I'll keep Nita company...... Years ago I found these two little naked things under a pine tree. The 2 of them were the size of a pen. I brought them inside and learned how to raise them, feeding every 2 hours with a small syringe. I took them with me to my parents' for Thanksgiving and often walked around the house with them in my shirt pocket to keep them warm and close to me. They thrived, learned how to climb; that's Sidney on my ficus benjamina, and eating her first peanut. Seymour is her brother. When I finally released them, we took them to a forest and put a pile of nuts, broccoli, carrots under a tree and put them down. They scampered up the tree, and without a word of a lie, they both scampered down to me, ran up my arms and nuzzled my neck and then they took off. I bawled like a baby that day. It was the greatest feeling of anything I've ever done.

I shot this through glass, and from a great distance (I was even quite a distance from the glass), so the quality isn't the best. But isn't he a flashy guy?

Me, standing in front of the Wasilla, AK visitor center holding our local newsletter, the Woodbridge Reflections. People take pictures of themselves holding it wherever they travel and it gets published in the newsletter. I usually have a photo taken with and without it but for some reason this time I didn't.
