Thank goodness for broadband internet service...between my pictures and yours were gonna tie up some bandwidth. Hope everyone else likes to see photo's as much as I do. Is that one on the left named Bertha? Or is that some type of code?

John, LMAO! Actually Bertha is my BF's mother's name, my BF just happened to be at her house in Los Angeles when the pod opened and she let him bring me the entire pod! I guess maybe I should have called "monster" - "Big Bertha", that would have been fitting but she might not have taken kindly to it! I labeled all the seeds from that pod "bertha" and the date I planted them. Be sure to label yours too, as you acquire more seeds it will get confusing. Can get the tags pretty cheap on ebay, but you might find them in FL. as cheap and not have to pay shipping. I'm still in dinosaur days, have dial up and it took me forever to load those pics to photobucket! I just emailed you by the way!

That was cool of her to give you the whole seed pod. Does she grow from seeds also? I guess I'll have to label mine Jerri One. :-)

Thanks so much for the compliments everyone, they are really appreciated! They are between 3 - 4 weeks old and I don't know if they are keeping up with their age group or if they should be walking/talking by now! The stalks are nice and thick on most, which I like better than the spindly one or two I have. I leave them out in the wind so hopefully they will be strong lil fellers.

I won't post pics of my sticks right now as they are rather embarrassing. I actually think they are shriveling from lack of water and am going to be a very rebellious lady tomorrow and give them a drink, so take that...lol

Thank you! I did the water thing with just two or three of the little guys. The rest I put in Miracle Gro potting soil with lots of perlite and watered a little everyday. They are in small pots, so they are dried out each day. I give little drink each afternoon (well until water runs out, so I guess that's a big drink). They are grown in the full sun in the desert and are loving it! The one I call "Monster" has got godzilla leaves and a strong little sturdy stem to hold those big ole things up. I also misted the little wings lightly and ooops I screwed up and actually grew something!

Great pics Jerri. I'm excited to start a couple from seedlings, and will be needing lots of info from this wonderful forum. I have a few "sticks" that look fairly embarressing too. They sort of look like shriveled up cigars with a couple little teenie leaves on top.

Those look good. I've noticed that my seedlings grow really fast for a few weeks then they seem to slow down on vertical growth and the stems just get fat with more leaf development. I have 3 mo old seedlings that are only about 10" tall. Mine seem to slow down when they are about 4-5" tall. I have no idea if that's normal or not, this is the first year I've started them from seed.

Thanks for all the replies! I don't know what to expect either Karyn, but I'm weird and check them about 3 - 4 times a day, turn them towards the sun, mist them occassionally, haven't started talking to them yet but I think I'm getting there. I'm starting to think I should get a stroller and take them for a walk??? lol

WOW, 10" in three months seems like a lot, hope mine do that. Do you have to water everyday? Mine are in direct desert full sun and seem to really like it, but I have to give them a little drink everyday. I also cheated I put a 'pinch' of steer manure on top of each little pot (as everyone cringes...) I didn't know any better at the time, but it hasn't seemed to hurt them. I swear I can actually sit there and watch "Monster" grow, his leaves are huge!
