Happy 4th to you too! I would replace all my grass with a garden like that but my partner just loves grass so that's a no go...beautiful garden!

aulani, I retired a few years ago and had more time to indulge some crops more too. I planted a couple blueberries recently. They were potted and potted plants do well in fall. Raspberries are likely to be barerooted perhaps and if so, I tend to favor spring planting though they might do well now if watered well.

Sheesh! Those are the laziest (or most generous) cats in the world. They allow the blue jays to come up and eat THEIR food. I can't imagine they'll get very riled up over something eating MINE! Happy Birthday Canada...from my garden to yours

One of the best trips we ever took to Canada was on July 1st. Even thought most of the stores were closed, we managed to find eats and a place to stay. People were GREAT!!! Got inviteded to so many places, Sister in law was unhappy because the Walmarts were closed, but I sure wasn't. She kept complaining and I kept finding so many great people!. Happy Canada Day to all and have a great day!

I rarely bother. a) terrible eyesight b) crappy camera - I have never bothered to learn all the settings...I use 'landscape' and 'autofocus'. c) no interest in close-ups - other people take much better ones and a plant is a plant, right? d) afraid to say my photos do represent the reality...of pots littered about, fails in deadheading, stuff like the washing line, old bikes, outside toilet, lurking dog. e) my garden (ahem) is, sadly, more of an untidy plant nursery and collection of randoms. For the occassional week when it makes a harmonious whole, I seem to never have the camera to hand or simply miss the opportunity. f) When I do take photos, they are simply visual notes (what is flowering where...and when...with what...etc. I just point and click with zero effort at getting the light in order...or thinking about composition...and I certainly don't rush about tidying up (moving hoses and tools and such). And I can't be arsed to fiddle about messing with cropping and colours either. So, all in all, pics are a bit of a fail...bit I have only even had a camera for the past few years so I have never really got on board with the endless. selfie/instagram/photograph everything mindset. I have a shoebox full of family and travel photos, going back half a century and maybe a couple of thousand digital images on my HD...but I am not really bothered...and why would I be when the real thing is there...to play in every day?

Happy 4th of July to you! Very pretty garden. I wish I could replace all of my lawn, but my husband likes to drive the tractor around.

LOL, neverenough, sounds just like my situation! I keep tryin g to convince him that grass is so over-rated, but somehow, all the convincing never gets me anywhere.

Everytime we go to Lowe's or Home Depot he says "you dont need to look at flowers. you have enough!". But it's never enough, it's like an addiction!!!!!

Haha...yeah...I'm lucky my partner has no real interest in the yard, so I'm allowed pretty much free reign. I've torn up the whole front yard, and am about 1/3 of the way done with the side yard. Our back yard will be the last, and it's pretty small...so I'm glad he lets me get rid of all the turf...otherwise I wouldn't really have any room to garden at all!

Fabulous. I grow that agastache and I never get such a vivid purple. Mine tends to be more violet than grape.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! Token...that color is a little warmer than I think it usually looks IRL, due to it being an overcast day and I was using a polarizer...which tends to "warm" colors up a tad as well as cutting glare, making the colors richer at the same time. :-)

Your Cottage Garden just glows! I don't mind a little camera trickery. When it is hot and glaring here, all my photos take on a yellow cast to them. Sometimes it looks great and sometimes it looks washed out. Your photo is in the great category. :)

It is so beautiful with your house and the lay of the land sets it off.
