Dawn recently posted on storage of squash and pumpkins. I don't recall exactly where. First of all, it doesn't hurt to leave them on the vine after they test mature (fingernail test). If saving seed, then try to wait a month after the fruit tests ripe, before you cut it and take the seed. This additional time is used by the seed to absorb more nutrients, thus giving the seed a longer viability in storage. This additional month can be on or off the vine. I simply pick my squash and put them somewhere where it doesn't get too hot and where it won't freeze. Try to keep them dry. That's about it. In past years I've stashed them behind the couch, under the bed and used them for door stops! Bon, you will most likely get A LOT more squash before frost. I'm always amazed at how many are hiding in the foliage. Last year, even though I combed the garden, looking for stragglers, I still didn't see a 30 lb Old Timey Cornfield Pumpkin, only finding it after it froze and spoiled. George

First of all, it is considered poor forum etiquette to start a new thread when you already have an active thread. Questions that you have not answered in earlier thread. What is the brand, model, size, and efficiency of existing propane furnace? What is its blower size rating? This is important if you are considering just adding on a heat pump with matching coil to existing furnace. If you really require a 5 ton, then this would most likely require significant ductwork modifications to handle the additional CFMs. Has any of the dealers mentioned this? Mighty important. What is your cost/gallon for propane? What is cost/KWR for electric? Tell us about existing problems with current system and location of problems? Basements at or partially below grade have low heating and cooling loads. Tell us about your average temp for both summer and winter? And extremes? What are your inside design thermostat setting for heating and cooling? How did existing 4 ton AC perform when it was working correctly as far as meeting your comfort requirements? The finished basement should have its own separate system preferred or at very least a zoning control. Any opportunity for insulation improvement/upgrade to basement area? I would want to see a separate load calculation for basement zone. Have you seen the load calcs in writing so that you can review? On the software letterhead? Post back. IMO

I agree being able to share photos directly in your message makes it easier for others to help. And Kodak Gallery will be closing soon and all your photos will be going to Shutterfly unless you opted out. As far as I can tell there is no way to share photos from Shutterfly. I opened an account with them over four years ago and stopped using it because of that. Photobucket and TinyPic are both excellent photo storage sites and also offer editing. Okay, not to your problem. I'd not paint the siding. Once you do that you have to worry about redoing it year after year. I'd concern myself with painting the foundation and porch. Maybe paint them to match the main siding on the house. The gables look beige on my monitor and I do like that they are a different color than the main area of the siding. It ads to the curb appeal in my opinion. I think with a few changes you could give your home a Craftsman or cottage (as you mentioned) look to it. Here's a couple ideas that might work for you home. Thank you Marti8a. I recovered the sofas and removed the ruffled skirt and added bun feet. I do not have a before pic. of sofa but it was very country and 80's sea foam green and pink and coordinated with the flowered drapes and cornice. The space is small for today's standards and the newer sofas were so big. I would love to put hardwood in here also. We put it in the kitchen and FR. Here is another before and after pic. Alerit, I agree with patricia43 about classic good bones. Yes I love some of the newer DR sets out there and would love a new set but I think Queen Anne is easy to work with. I think recovering the seats would make a big difference. I would love to replace my armchairs on the end with an upholstered parsons chair.
