She is ready for a big girl bed. That will leave the crib free for the new baby.

I think most of us have had a child that painted. Now I can laugh about it. I also had one that climbed out of her crib. She would get out and play and not nap. No toys in room and door fixed so she couldn't open it. Many naps were taken on the floor.

As a baby who has painted herself I can LOL!!! Of course my parents tell the story in a different tone.

Hahahaha. 20 month old GD hasn't done that yet, but she has a 4 month old brother. I have 4 adult kids. That only happened once. (And then there were the "baby powder" incidents.) And the 2 yr, old gluing himself to the floor. . ..

Haha, love the story. They will love telling the "Painted with Poop" story........someday.

Our son "christened" everything withing "range", including eyes, noses, mouths, drinks, food, etc. haha.

Our daughter was the climber. At 18 months, we found her on top of my mom's refrigerator!

Lol! I don't miss those days. Had one potty trained at 13 months because she wouldn't leave a diaper on. Next one was scaling the sides of her crib and crawling out before she was a year old - so in the " big girl bed" she went.

Fun stories for someday, though :)

If a kid is pulling off a diaper, it means she/he is uncomfortable having it on. . May be time to start potty training.

I had twin boys that painted. That was when I searched for and found pjs that zipped up and had a snap cover over the top of the zipper that they could not unsnap.

They did not potty train fully until 3. They simply weren't ready.

Ahhhh memories, lol.

My son did it and stood in his crib with a smile on his face. Poop all over his white crib rails.

My son climbed out of his crib and landed safely.Mom,though,ran in to save him and fell on the floor. Son, stood there and clapped and laughed.....

My friend had a "painter". Her daughter wanted to be naked 24/7. She finally found a solution: she dressed the baby in her pjs backwards so the girl couldn't get at the snaps/zippers. That stumped her for a while! lol

Kids will be uncomfortable in poop whether it's in their diaper or underwear. Sounds like she was in her crib, sleeping, so Mom wouldn't have known right away. Even though, kids are QUICK!

Is she ready to be potty trained? Who knows? There are signs she will show you. But there will also be a new baby soon, and they generally say to avoid training while there are big upheavels in her life. There is no one age perfect for all kids. My girls couldn't care less until they were nearly 3. I definitely learned you can't force them.

As for the crib/big bed, thankfully, mine weren't climbers. They loved their crib, like it was a cozy little nook. I don't think it ever occurred to them to climb out! Which is funny since my 4 year old climbs anything and everything now!

My 3 yr old grand daughter got into mommy's spices. She poured at least half of the supply in bowls (and everywhere else) and was mixing (playing cook) when discovered. Yikes! the remaining spices in the containers were mixed up a bit too ruining what remained in the containers! My daughter had to throw it all away. Nothing was salvageable. She said it was going to be expensive to replace and she could not afford it in the budget. She was not laughing.
