Here is an excerpt from Excel help: Display or hide recently used workbooks on the File menu For easy access to workbooks that you frequently work on, you can display up to nine recently used workbooks on the File menu. You can also hide them or clear their history. On the Tools menu, click Options. On the General tab, do one of the following: To display a list of recently used workbooks, select the Recently used file list check box, and then select the number of entries you want. To hide or clear the history of recently used workbooks, clear the Recently used file list check box. The list of recently used workbooks is cleared, and no history of your workbook usage is kept. To start a new history of recently used workbooks, click OK, and then repeat the previous steps to start displaying recently used workbooks again. Note Only workbooks that you open and save after you select the check box are listed on the File menu. You must also restart Excel to see them listed. HTH, the other Pam

Thank you, I appreciate the link. I found a pretty good site that explained what I needed. Here's a pretty good explanation for clickboxes: In Column A row 1, type in True or False. Add the checkbox: Go to Developer- Insert - Form Control and choose a clickbox Move the clickbox into the proper cell and name it (or not) Connect the clickbox to the True/False statement: 1. Right click on the clickbox and choose Format Control - Control 2. Choose the Value (Checked, for this example) 3. Go into the Cell Link bar and click once, then go to the workbook and select the cells A1:Whichever one ends just before your clickbox, ie A1:C1 which will come up automatically in the box as $A$1:$C$1. To add color: 1. Select the whole row you want to change. Include the clickbox. Right click on the row you just selected, but not over the clickbox. 2. Go to Home tab - Conditional Formatting - New Rule - Use a Formula to determine which cells to format 3. Click in the rule description box and then select the cell with TRUE in it. The formula that will appear is =$A$1 4. Change that to =$A1=TRUE() a. If you only want to format one row you may leave the formula as =$A$1=TRUE(). The $ between the numbers and letters means "only", as in A1 ONLY. If you remove the second $, it will be available to apply to as many rows as you like. 5. Click the format button and choose a background color, and click ok. 6. You will be taken back to your spreadsheet. 1. NEXT, to apply your rule to your whole worksheet, select the same row in which you just applied the rule. 2. Go back to Conditional Formatting and select Manage Rules. 3. Click in the Applies To box, and select the whole range you wish to apply the formatting to and click ok. 4. This applies the formatting you just applied to the first row to all of the rows. Having a spreadsheet of the info is great for you, but if you are sharing the info with the GC, you need a hard copy format. I'd recommend that you have all the contracts and contact info for yourself, GC and subs organized in one place-- either a binder or folder or file box. We needed the plumber's number asap when we sprang a leak, and we (GC and I) didn't have it handy. Nasty. Put it in a defined place, make sure the GC knows it's there, make sure they're copies, not originals (or they'll get lost). Also, I can't tell you how hard it is to make subs look at your notes/postings. You basically have to hand it to them and get them to acknowledge that they'll look at it. I stapled up the stove installation diagram right over the place where it was to be installed, and the electricians still ignored it and put the plug in the wrong place. The GC fixed it, but really, people, why do you think it was flapping away there? I don't know how to remedy this, but I offer it as a way of saying, you can't assume they'll look at your notes unless you tell them to. That goes for GC and subs too. I would also recommend that you post your work phone, cell phone and alternate contact info in large type somewhere permanent (so they know where to look) so that no one can say "I did it this way because I couldn't reach you." That's averted a few disasters at my house, and has provided me with ammo when things weren't done right. I can go back and say "Why didn't you call if you couldn't find something or figure something out?" Finally, try to establish a regular place where you leave notes for the GC and the GC leaves notes for you, either in a notebook left in a permanent place, or a clipboard or whatever. This has been really important in helping me to understand what's happening when I'm not around. Leave plenty of paper and pens -- they never seem to have them, and I get notes written on pieces of 2x4. Cute, but not what you want to take the HOme Depot when you need to buy a part. I kept all my printed purchase orders, confirmations, etc. in a binder for the kitchen. Make sure to mark old plans as old, or throw them out. Otherwise, you can end up relying on an old version of the cabinet plan. And keep checking up on the communication area - because the documents can walk away and get lost. This leads to tiny disasters where the cabinets get installed without the crucial 3" filler that makes them line up. Leading to cabinet installation take 2, take 3 . . .etc.
