Olga: Northstar is a red-fleshed tart cherry (technically called a Morello) that should grow and produce very well in Maryland. I have grown them here, and the trees last about 20 years before bacterial disease catches up with them. But it is still worth it if you like this type of cherry. Northstar is a genetic dwarf that tops out at about 10 feet with minimal pruning. Tart cherries ripen very early in the season (around mid-June here in Northern Virginia) and because of this early ripening are not troubled by many of the insects and diseases that affect other stone fruits. Except for one -- and that is the cherry fruit fly. You can reduce or eliminate CFF, but only if you remove all the fruit by the end of the season so the larvae do not reach the ground to pupate, and you hoe around the area within the dripline of the tree to expose those few pupae that survive to cold and drying. If you take these cultural measures, you can get by without any spraying. If you do get cherry fruit fly, they will show up as tiny white larvae near the pit, surrounded by black frass. If you have a lot of birds in your area, particularly mockingbirds, bluejays, and robins, they will enthusiastically share your cherries, but once the trees begin to mature there will still be plenty left. I've never used honey in this kind of recipe but I think only using 1/4 cup honey would make you pucker up.

This one looks good: Cream Puff Chocolate Eclair Cake Rating: 5 Prep Time: 20 minutes Cook Time: 35 minutes Total Time: 55 minutes Cream Puff Chocolate Eclair Cake Ingredients Pastry: 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter 1 cup water 1 cup unbleached all purpose flour 4 large eggs Chocolate Filling: 2 ounces semisweet chocolate 2 tablespoons butter 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup confectioners' sugar 3 tablespoons hot water Cream Filling: 4 cups milk 8 oz. cream cheese, softened 2 large (5.1 oz) pkgs instant vanilla pudding (or 3 small, 3.4 oz) Topping: 1 8-ounce container Cool Whip Chocolate syrup Instructions Preheat oven to 400 F. For the Pastry: In a large heavy saucepan, heat butter and water to boiling over medium-high heat. Add flour and reduce heat to low. Cook and stir until it forms a ball and pulls away from the pan. Remove from heat and transfer to a large bowl. Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each egg. Spread in bottom and up the sides of an ungreased 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 400 degrees F for 35 minutes. Cool completely. For the Chocolate Filling: Melt chocolate and butter in the microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir. Continue heating at 20 second intervals until smooth. Stir in vanilla. Sift in the powdered sugar, a little at a time, stirring as you go. Dribble water in to the mixture until smooth and spreadable (you may or may not use all the water). Spread over the cooled pastry. For the Cream Filling: In mixing bowl beat the cream cheese until fluffy. Slowly and gradually add the milk while still beating. Once these are well combined, add pudding mix and beat until thickened. Spread over chocolate layer in cooled pastry. Top with whipped topping, and draw lines of chocolate syrup across the top, then run a knife down the top in the opposite direction of the syrup lines, about every 2 inches. It's funny, just because the glass shade looks like it should be replaceable, it does make you think. But, if you were considering any other kind of light fixture, you probably wouldn't give it a second thought. Most lights, if broken, are kaputs. I might wait 'til they go on sale and buy a backup. And then never need it! I do love that sconce....was looking at it last night. My only hesitation is that they will show a lot of dust. Clear glass is unforgiving. Will they be on or off most of the time? On...more dust. Off...less noticeable. Because of that, I might try to find something frosted. Or get used to living with the dust. Or just clean them often and not worry because I loved them so much. You have to find your place on that continuum. Disclaimer: I am in Ultra Cleaning Mode right now with my house on the market. As I contemplate the next house, I think a lot about how to plan for less cleaning!
