I'd love to have a leg lamp myself! A Christmas Story is my favorite Christmas program, too. The window and table where I could display it would really need a bigger one.

I'm like my mother :o) I can't keep gifts for that length of time.

Oh, no, don't wait 'til next year!! Just go ahead and send it to him now. He will have an extra year to enjoy it and explain it to his friends who may not have ever seen A Christmas Story. Maybe he will get the movie and show it to them. Or better yet, why don't you get it and send it to him along with the lamp?

Good shopping, Georgysmom! I agree with Sue-VA, tuck the DVD in with the lamp. But I'd save it for next Christmas. I used to buy all year when the Grandkids were little and stored everything under the bed in the guest room. The kids spent many a night in that room and never looked under the bed--haha!

A woman near where I live has the full size one in her front window. A friend of mine got the Christmas ornament version for Christmas. I was there visiting on the 26th, It made me wish that I still put up a big tree. I had ornament envy. My niece and I watch that movie on VHS every yr, besides the times we catch it on TV.

Caroline, this one is just a desk-size lamp. I have no idea what he would do with the real big one which comes in a wooden box marked "fragile" or
Fra geel ea as the Dad would say.

Glenda and Sue, the fun of this gift will be to hear his laugh when he opens it. When I showed it to DH he cracked up which is exactly what I expect from my son. I shall wrap it and put it in the closet with all the Christmas wrappings, that way I'm not likely to forget it next year. The fun gift this year was a baseball cap from the Masters with several pro signatures on it. He collects baseball hats.

Georgysmom, We love that movie!! It's not Christmas until we see it. I bet he will get a BIG kick out of the lamp!And don't you love finding something you want on sale!

Also, next time you have a Master's hat with signatures laying around, my husband would probably give you his first born. How did you manage that? Whose signatures were on there? Curious to know!

He would quit his job in a second to join the tour! And if he could bring home those big cardboard checks I'd be happy too! lol In fact he is playing golf right now in 30 degree weather!

teresava, I went to the Masters this year. I use to work the Michelob tournament at Kingsmill and every year I would buy DS a cap and get some signatures but the men don't come here anymore, the ladies do. I did get Annika Sorenstam's signature when she was here but I don't volunteer anymore. When I was at the Master's, I got Stewart Cink's and Hunter Mahan's and Fuzzy Zoeller's signature. I was hoping to go again this coming year and was aiming to get Phil Michaelson's but alas, no one got tickets. If I ever do get to go again, I'll get him a cap and an autograph.

OT: Do you know if those are actually Phil Michaelson's parents in the TV commercial he does? He's so TALL...and they look so *small*. Although, come to think of it, we ran into Tom Thayer and his parents at Costco in Kahului once, and it was the same size mismatch.

I checked out that link. I agree, Georgy'sMom, the 50" lamp would be too tall for my window too, but the 26" would look great!

I'd keep it with the Christmas ornaments and display it from the day after Thanksgiving until Jan. 6.

DH may just be in for a surprise!

I've got several gifts tucked away for next Christmas already. Bath & Body Works runs their super-sale starting the day after Christmas, 3-wick candles, bath products, etc., are several of my fill-in gifts for DIL, co-workers, etc.

I can afford to give them a nicely filled gift bag at half the price!
