Has anyone ever bought anything from Hobble Creek Trading Company

I found something I want to order but I don't know anything about the company reputation. I want to order this for a Christmas gift for my husband, although it wouldn't get here until later. The alternative is to get one made locally and I see them around here in the summer, but haven't got a name or phone number and don't have a way of getting one now.

If you've bought from them, what kind of product and service did you get? Were you happy with the purchase and experience?

I did a bit or research, and they appear to be a warehouse place. You could either call them, or see if they are registered in UT, where they say they are located. Also you could go to the BBB and see if they are a member, or have complaints. I don't think they make any item, but do locate what you want, and the items may be US made or not.

I purchased an AICO living room set from Hobble Creek. Great Pricing - Great Customer Service, great quality. It was delivered when they told me, no problems what so ever. I will purchase again from them.

fwiw...some cheapie hints... Home Depot online can be accessed through EBates, which gives a little rebate for the referral. Go to Ebates first (have to register), then go to HD. Some of the other online kitchen stuff companies are also available through the Ebates internal referral service. I got a $35 refund check from them one month. I wish I had known about Ebates before I spent big bucks on two cast iron sinks and two faucets through HDepot online. Look for online codes and/or holiday discounts from the various vendors. You'd be surprised what are considered "holidays" by the online companies. Mayday might be a 10% off day, that kind of thing. I know that "Black Friday" after Thanksgiving was a good discount day (actually the entire weekend and the Monday afterward) and even April Fool's Day had a discount for some vendors. Often the home web page for a company has today's discount code listed on it. I've sometimes emailed the company on the "contact us" and asked point-blank, "Is there a discount today or in the next week which I need to type in when I buy online?" Often they give me the info. Or they tell me to register for their email newsletter so I can snag the upcoming code for the next "sale." At least that tells me that there is a sale coming up.

It is the only mail order nursery I have ever ordered from :-) They specialize in clematis - have a huge selection - and I am a clematis collector. The plants received have always been extremely healthy, of a generous size and very well-packed/shipped. Shipping was always quite prompt but I only live a day's drive away so that might be why. My only complaint is that unless I order very early in the season, what I want may very well be sold out! They get a very good rating from Garden Watchdog and if you read the reviews, those who have had complaints seem to have had the issues resolved satisfactorily in most cases. A case could be made for them not shipping at this time of year simply to protect the plants. The weather has been extremely hot through this area for the last month and I would NOT want my plants sent in the mail/UPS now..........but they should let you know if that is the case and when you could reasonably expect them. A case could also be made for NOT planting anything right now as well - you may be better off in the long run with this unintended delay.

Fake seeds can also be seeds that are labeled as real plants, but don't fit what they are labeled as or they can be implied to be for plants that don't exist in reality. So I have seen comments from folks who ordered varied colored flowers such as lupines and got only the most common blue, or even folks who got a completely different species than what was ordered. I can find lupines in mixed color packets here, and I am in a quite rural area, so you may find them in your area. I typically won't buy from a supplier that has less than about 90% (or usually better) positive reviews. Prior to having access to online reviews (I've been gardening since before the internet) I was burned a few times ordering from garden suppliers who didn't supply what was ordered. I found it quite frustrating since my growing season is short, so I usually couldn't reorder and have time to replant. I guess the questions to ask yourself are, Will you be distressed if you get nothing you want for what you spend? and Will you be unhappy if you have to wait until next year to get the plants you want? If the answer is yes, based on the poor reviews, I would use another supplier.

Save your time and money, go elsewhere! I ordered from them and they gave me a great price, very nice. After a month, I checked in and furniture still hadn't left them. Took them 2.5 months to get it to me and when it arrived it was BEAT UP, broken, scratched, discolored, and they just took it out of the box and left (leaving a MESS!!!). There is literally a door hanging from one hinge. I have called and emailed A MILLION times. The delivery guy even noted the damage before leaving, but still NOTHING from them. It has been over 4 months and I have very expensive beat up junk sitting in my beautiful home taking up space and not put together. They won't return my emails or calls and yet they had no trouble taking my $5000! They are AWFUL!!!!! They never answer the phone either, you have to leave a message so they can return just the phonecalls of people that want to give them more money!
