Put a good dent in business tax stuff this morning. Roughed out W-2's and 1099's, Federal, State and Unemployment taxes. Usually takes me three or four days. Amazing how much I can get done in a few hours, if no one else is in the office. Will swing by the store and head for home.

Prepared jalapeño cornbread and black-eyed peas for tomorrow.

Made a caramelized leek, bacon, goat cheese and sour cream dip to take over to a friend's house. Will serve it with tiny baked, smashed, and re-baked potatoes.

Partially cleaned up my mess. Playing with the iPad right now.

Hounds, that sounds pretty good, minus the goat cheese, what could I sub for it?

With snow forecast for this afternoon (we're getting it now), I went out this morning to run an errand at the Post Office and pick up some bird feeding supplies.

Now I'm moving firewood onto the porch--with frequent rest breaks.

Major snow is predicted for tomorrow night into Thursday night, to be followed by sub-zero temperatures. As long as cat food, bird seed, and firewood, I feel secure. Well, reasonably secure. ;-)

I am laying in bed reading and hoping that I can finally get better for the New Year. Or at least stop coughing and get my voice back. Doubt I will be able to make midnight.
I do have some black Eyed Peas and cabbage and freshly smoked sausage from Louisiana for New years day.
Tonight I have no clue maybe hubby will pick something up.
We do have a bottle of Asti for tonight.

For those that follow the bury the money tradition remember to bury it today before midnight and dig up tomorrow.

Re: leek dip
Just leave out the goat cheese if you don't care for it. Or, use a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese instead. It is fine with just the sour cream and bacon and leeks.

I am just finishing up with my foods I am taking to Amber's for our annual cookout. I have the potatoes frying to take, and I have made potato salad, coleslaw, spinach dip, pineapple upside down cake, a jelly roll, and put together most of the stuff for our punch. I am also taking some two liters of pop and some cottage cheese. I just saw two nice big deer out of my back door, slowly walking along across our creek. Nice to see.

Very, very cold today with winds and snowflurries. Didn't venture outside at all.

Have some things in the frig to defrost for meals the rest of the week. Washed the floors, did a couple loads of laundry.

We just watched a few shows online, and I looked through some recipes. Earlier hubby and I played a few hands of gin (got hooked on that during the hydro outage).

Dinner is on the go now, and we're to to out to some friends tonite. I hope the weather clears. Hubby doesn't drink, and I might have one drink, depending what is in the offering.

Edited to mention that we "buried our debts" earlier today. Will dig up the wealth tomorrow.

I have been making potato soup for our lunch. I always seem to like a little more flavor that recipes deliver and find myself adding about a tablespoon of Lea and Perrins Worchestershire Sauce to give it a nicer flavor. It is my secret ingredient in most soups.

Friend call and went to Arby's. She had 2 for $6 roast beef au jus. Then we shopped at Dollar Tree and WalMart.

Got a much needed new pillow.

Well... add went to town...Safeway was insane..worse than before Thanksgiving and Christmas..

He came in early, yammered on for about half an hour, but locked himself in his office when I gave him (what he calls) "the look"! Good boy! It's only taken 24 years of training! LOL

Not much.. We are down south just the two of us. Hubby cut some wood. I stayed in. I've been trying to figure out my new phone. Got all my contacts in.
