Beautiful Amaryllis, mine got too tall this year also. Brrrrrrrrrr is right! Here in San Antonio we are expecting the coldest weather in 40 years. We might not get above freezing on Friday! Many of the plants I brought in a few weeks ago are sprouting new leaves. The first hard freeze snuck up on us and I accidentally left the Duranta out and thought it was dead, but now it's sprouting new leaves. Even one small Brug cutting that got left out is now sprouting from the bottom even though the top is shriveled. We'll be moving the Christmas lights over to the plants that are too big to bring in.

Let me work something out to send you:-) You WON this contest. Rosey, trust me when I tell you, I didn't kill any plants because I had no room? What I have never killed off any plumeria because of a lack of room, in fcat they require no room, except that is if you want to bring them into bloom by starting early and leafing them out. I got tired of all the work to get them to bloom and the bugs associated with them. I never had enough HOT sun to do them justice and if I started them early in the spring, I was always scared to put them anywhere near my other plants because they would infect them with bad pests. In fact, one year, I had put them in my greenhouse, the only place for warmth, and they infected all my plants with Thrips, Spider mites, and other maggots all at once. Never again. Now,if I can't put certain trouble plants in my grenhouse, or plant rooms and be safe, then I avoid certian ones. I do have just teh special ones given to me that sit on a heat mat under lights far away from the rest of my plants. Now, I play it safe.:-) Mike

One of the neat things about Gardenweb (having been in & out of many of the forums since the mid- 90s, I still cannot get used to the Houzz name!) is the way it is set up, so that any new comments bring the original post to the top of the board. In the Garden Party, people used to do that just to keep a topic going (which I think may have been frowned upon by the original webmaster, Spike, but not sure)... I haven't been to the Party in more years than I can recall, though; just so busy with other stuff! Gardenweb really gets a lot of the credit for me passing my Master Gardener exam with a 98% back in 1997. I had been gardening already for close to 30 years when I took the MG course, but the many forums are just so full of good info that I used the many Q & A as my study guide. :-) Now, after nearly 50 years of gardening, I still am learning, but always am glad if I can help others learn, as well.

The fact that national (and even our local) tv stations cannot spell or do not check their spelling just drives me nuts. I yell at the tv at least once a day at my local station news broadcasts!! And I am even more appalled when the national shows screw things up. I yell at them and tell them I will come down and do that job because they really need it!!! I heard (wasn't looking at the tv) her say that, but instantly thought Minot and didn't realize she has said "Minto". Geesh!!
