Thank you all for your comments. Lydia, we bought a Hickory laminate flooring. It can't be a floating floor, Ernie uses a polyurathane glue to attach the wood to the floors. He also fits the wood in so tight that there is no molding around the edges anywhere. It is really amazing how beautiful it turned out. The one thing I really like about it is that you can see where each board ends as it dents in. I was looking at my hairdressers laminate the other day and it is just flat. We paid about $5 a square foot and we have about 320 square feet. The fellow charges $300 a day for his labor and it takes about 2 weeks to complete.

As I tell everyone, it isn't cheap but you can't take your money with you and our kids would spend it faster than you could blink your eyes. LOL

There is a lot of mess before hand. At one point the dinnette was removed and we were eating on a roll up card table with two chairs for several days. We lived in it the whole time it was being renovated.

The entry stairs also got covered with wood. I am going to put carpet treads to keep water and dirt from shoes from coming in. The hanging wire is for a light that Ernie is getting from a friend of his and will be installed when we go back. We will also use some throw rugs to add some color and keep some drips from the kitchen and bathroom from getting on the wood.

Ernie had plenty of help.

I thought we would have to take the cats out of the motor home while Ernie worked but they did fine. Mostly they just went into the bedroom and slept.

The only problem we had was that one of the slides in the bedroom was leaking when it rained so we have it in Tucson right now getting fixed. Then we will head back to Weatherford to have Ernie finish the installation in the back half of the coach. He said it should take about 4 days to complete. We are also having the carpeting replaced under the kitchen sink and the closset.

I love it. He did a wonderful job. We have been looking at bigger options to possibly upgrade to and the main make or break for me is no carpet. I have been spoiled by our current one with no carpet and I don't want to go to something with carpet.
Unfortunately a lot of them are still being made with carpet so I would probably have to do exactly what you did. Good to know he is not too far away and is so good.

Raven, while we were there he told us he only does top end coaches. I don't know why probably because of the cost. By the time we are done we will have spent approximately $6,000.

Our next project when this is completed will be to get the windows done. They are dual pane and the gas has escaped so they look foggy. There is a company in Phoenix that takes them out. Then takes them apart and cleans the glass and reassembles them and puts them back in. That cost $200 a window but would be double having the dealer do it. Our home away from home will be like brand new when we are finished.

Why would you live in it if the poor guy wanted to get some work done?

OldFixer, that is the way he does it. He has you park your coach about 30 feet from his house in his back yard and hooks you up with water and electric. He has a dump site for the sewer down the street at another house he owns if you need it. Most of his customers come from all over the country to get their coaches worked on. We live 900 miles from his place.

He works from 8am to 4pm with a short break for lunch. Mike helped him take out the captain's chairs and also helped take out the carpeting. The couch and loveseat were placed on rollers and moved about in the open space as needed. Once the carpeting was removed from under those they were put back until he wanted to install the flooring. I kept out of the way mostly by reading in the bedroom. We set our alarm for 6am and were dressed, finished breakfast and everything cleared away before Ernie got there.

He had a good size wire kennel with a top for the cats in his living room. I told him I would put the cats there and he said "no" they were doing great in the motor home and he actually enjoyed their wandering around. They never got in his way or into his stuff. When he was done working he would stack his tools (which he kept to a minimum) in a corner.

He has a 26' enclosed trailer that is beside the coach and that is where his saws are kept. He has them on rolling tables and sets them up outside close to the coach door.

He has an excellent set up and we at no time were in his way. He said he once had a coach with no slides and the people hat 7 cats and a dog in there while he worked. Now I think that is a little much don't you?

We have been out in our RV for a week now, head home tomorrow, and are still very happy we made the decision to buy. Which is why we want to go bigger and better!

You were lucky to have such a great guy doing the work! I can't imagine living there while all the work is being done. The cats are gorgeous.. glad they managed so well through the remodel.

Honestly, it wasn't bad. Most of the floors were covered in carpet which came up easily with not much dust. Taking up the tile looking stuff was the worst but was the slowest. Ernie cleaned as he went. It took almost 3 days to get the tile stuff up in the kitchen. The only other place to have that flooring is the closet where the commode is. He is going to do that on this next trip.

I read mostly on my kindle and Mike went to a couple of movies. We also did a little shopping. For over a week we were stuck in that ice storm that crippled Dallas. It honestly wasn't bad. The hardest part was getting up at 6 every morning.

Ernie is a very nice guy with lots of patience, he has to be in order to do the slow, tedious work that he does.

I think that floor is absolutely gorgeous.
