Opps...I left it on the coffee Table and Ivy is really into chewing right now....so she decided to nibble it....she got a hole right in the middle of the strip that you swipe so can't use it...so Brian gets the cobwebs off of his tries it can't remmeber his number sooo after so many tries the bank machine eats it..so here with sit we have 100.00 to last us til our new debit cards show up in the mail here! I wish they would today so we could go get some shopping done! this is reallly put a kink in my weekend plans!! Stacy

Shop with cash. Or use checks. People did that in the *olden days*. You don't need a debit card to money out of an account. Just go to the bank and take money out. Online shopping does not require a physical card either.

Both American Express and Diners Club use CaP tech, but one traveler reported having to wait two hours in line at ORLY because almost an entire planeload of US travelers were queued up to use the only train ticket window with a human teller. The automated ticket kiosk only took exact change or a CaP card. The traveler said he couldn't even get his airline, Air France, to change a 20-Euro note. From a Liz Pulliam Weston/MSN Money article last year: "....It's not that your credit cards are useless overseas. Most merchants and travel providers in Europe, Asia, Latin America and Canada -- the areas that have adopted the smart-card technology -- still accept U.S. credit cards, says Odysseas Papadimitriou, who travels to Europe a few times a year and is the chief executive of credit card comparison site Card Hub. Also, foreign ATM keypads often don't have letters. Happened again! I posted here on 12/18/07 & on 1/14/08 the same exact thing happened w/ a completely different bank account. The only difference was the amount was $9.55 instead of $9.87 & the company name was World Wide Services (just FYI the other company name was PictureGlobus.com). I contacted my bank & they said that if I wanted to dispute it I could, but my debit card would be cancelled immediately, well, I had some purchases to make & only had my debit card, since I hate carrying cash, so told them to hold off. Well, I couldn't call on Monday (holiday) so I planned to call 1st thing Tues. morning. Well, I checked my online bank 1st & sure enough, the money had been refunded. I did go ahead & call & have my card cancelled which worked out perfectly since I had just ordered a new one w/ my new (married) name on it. I just find this so odd. I'm a little paranoid about it now actually. I don't think both of my banks (one has nothing to do w/ the other) could've made this almost exact mistake and w/ me as the common denominator... weird. I just caution everyone, b/c apparently nothing is secure anymore. I am scared to purchase anything or pay bills online now (or over the phone for that matter). I'm even getting more paranoid about paying @ restaurants w/ debit... I've seen receipts before w/ the whole card #, not just the last 4 digits. I will start marking these out!

I have a story, but it isn't funny. We have a little yorkie-poo. She was less than a year old when she got sick. She had a few stomach issues and they did a poop culture (sorry!), and found some type bacteria. Treated that but within a couple of weeks, she started vomiting one evening. She had never done this and after a couple of times I called our vet. Because of her small size (she's only 9 lbs. now fully grown) they had us bring her in so she wouldn't get dehydrated. They examined her, pumped her full of fluids and suggested we watch her closely overnight. The fluids and some meds helped with the vomiting but by early morning she was vomiting again. We got up, dressed and ready to get her to the vet their opening time. They did an x-ray and showed us that something was showing in her digestive track. Something she had ingested. I remembered that she had torn one of her little toys and although I never saw any stuffing out of the toy, I knew there was stuffing and we just assumed she had eaten that. They had to do emergency exploratory surgery. I bawled my eyes out. The next day when we were allowed to *visit*, the vet showed me the PLASTIC MEAT WRAPPER that she had eaten. It was to a pretty critical point, it had started through her intestines. The vet was wonderful, even took our little baby home with her overnight to keep a close eye on her and the pup came through the surgery with flying colors. And a nice little *zipper* down her belly. Hubby and I both felt awful. We didn't know she had gotten the wrapper. We figured that she had quickly grabbed it out of the garbage (which was behind a closed door, but if she saw us put something in there she'd jump up to investigate) and gotten away with it without us seeing. The stick on label on the plastic wrapping was what we were seeing on the x-ray. Alot of tears and $$$ over a meat wrapper! She's not interested in the garbage anymore (she was just a puppy then) thankfully, but we are even more cautious when throwing something away! I never throw away a meat wrapper now without putting it in another bag and tying it up first. Our pup too watches tv. It's hilarious. There was an M&M commercial that she didn't like. Now she doesn't like the Weight Watchers commercial where they have the little orange monster (hungry). She knows by the very first sound of that commercial that it's THE ONE and immediately starts barking. She barks at most dogs she sees on tv, other than cesear. This happened to me a few months ago too. The banks fraud dept noticed first and put a hold on my account. I tried to get gas and my card was declined and I knew I had $1000.00 in there. Turns out the creeps spent over $800.00 at BevMo (it's a store that sells liquor) in Fresno. I live in Los Angeles and had my card in my posession. The day they used it, I had too so there's no way I could be in two places at once. The bank gave me all of my money back after 3 weeks or so but I was livid. The bank said the WORST place to use your debit card was at the pumps at the gas station. The creeps put card readers in the slot, leave it for a couple of hours and they collect all of the info on the reader. They drive through later and remove the reader.....they now have your info. I still use my card to get gas but I go inside to the clerk to pay. Scary stuff! I hope you get yours straighted out Vicky....it's so violating. P

She used to nap on the couch and put her teeth in a glass of water on the nearby table

You guessed it!! We had to call the dentist and have him make mom another upper plate .

Luther, our great dane, recently ate our loveseat and this evening while we were gone he started on the couch. This one was our fault. We didn't put him in his cage. I thought we were going to be gone for just a few minutes, but dh just had to go to a carlot. I told him I was going home and he could call me when he was ready to come home. He said to please wait. He was only going to be a moment. After an hour I went inside the sales and became a real bi*c&. To make a long story short I told Bob I was going home. He followed me out and we came home to find part of the arm of the couch in pieces on the floor. GRRR!!!!!

Easier said then done bud when I live in Oklahoma bank is in Oklahoma and checks are in Oklahoma....and online shopping does require that you use the numbers on the back but when you can't read them ahhhh well it is not that big a deal I was just sharing a story....STacy

Dogs! Hehe! Aren't they great? Emmie once chewed my upper plate when I left it lay on the end table....cost me 400 to get new ones.
Couldn't you go the bank that has the machine that ate Brians card and rerieve it? Larry lost is in the machine once and they gave it back the next morning.As far as his pin number....I forgot mine and just had to call an 800 number on the back of my card to change it....

Stacy - our little doxie who has been gone almost 3 years now tore up two of our Bibles. I'd left them on the piano bench and she "got in the Word" while we left the house one day. And shoes ...... I lost count of the number of shoes that girl destroyed.

As far as writing checks, it annoys the dickens out of me to get behind someone writing a check. Have you seen the commercial where everything is going along like clockwork and then someone comes up to write a check and everything comes to a screeching halt? That's the way I feel when I get behind someone writing a check. lol

What is it with Dachshunds and chewing up things! I just got a birthday card that plays music. For some reason Elvira hates anything that plays music (Christmas ornaments, stuffed animals, cards). She really gets into attack mode with those things. I left it on the table and you guessed it, chewed to pieces.

It must be something about doxies, lol. A year or so ago we took a collection at work for a gift card for a co-worker's birthday. I volunteered to purchase it, but when the time came to give it to her I was frantic, couldn't find it, looked EVERYWHERE I could think of. Finally had to go at the last minute and purchase another one and chalked it up to myself being too disorganized. A few days later I was cleaning under the bed and lo and behold, there it was, minus a few important corners and looking a lot like swiss cheese. And a very anxious and guilty looking Penelope was pacing and watching me. Luckily, I had kept the original receipt so they honored it for me, and fortunately it was a store that I was able to shop at, lol!

LOL I am really feeling good about our lil Miss,(Doxie too)she is 7 years old. Born the same year as DGS Hunter.
She has never chewed one single solitary thing!
Now one of DD's boys Willie loves shoes, expensive ones too!
He was just a little fart when he first chewed on DD's Docs. Then he got a second pair of Docs and I told her it wasn't Willies fault, but hers for leaving them where he could get at them.
He was here once, I can't remember if we were watching him or if DD was here too, but anyway chewed the tongue on DS's Docs! He was quick! Now don't ask me WHOSE fault that was! LOLOL He must be 7 too or maybe 8 cause she had Willie before we had our Miss. and he doesn't get a chance to chew anything but toys now! I don't know if he still would or not. He's probably out grown that stage.

grinch_gut, Sorry I did not know this happened while you were on vacation. I assumed you were at home.

Can you go to the hotel front desk and get a cash advance on your credit card? I am assuming (I should stop doing that.) that you used a card when you checked in. Just a thought, that may work and help your situtation. I would hate to be stranded without bank access too. That could totally ruin a vacation.

Bud-I think stacy is in her fifth wheel in another state where her DH is working.
Hope you get this cleared up soon Stacy.I did what little shopping I had to do online this year and had it all delivered to the people I bought for.So conveinent!
I have a new little Chihuahua.Well,she's actually DH's baby but sometimes he doesn't watch her very well.I keep the charger to my cell phone on the bedside table in my room plugged into a power cord on the floor by the bed along with the air pump to my mattress and the plug for the adjustable bed.She is suppose to be confined to his room when he's not around to watch her because she can't get into anything in there,no cords on the floor or anything like that she can reach.Well,a couple of weeks ago she sneaked into my room (guess who wasn't watching her?) and I found the charger cord chewed into 3 pieces.(Thank goodness it wasn't one of the other cords!)DH went to Wal-Mart and got another one and yep,you guessed it she chewed that one into two days later! She isn't bad about chewing on other things but seems to have a thing for power cords.Aren't puppies just precious!LOL

Thats okay bud I typed what i did back and I think itsounded harsh. Yes Lillie is right I am here where dh is working. No they wouldn't give the card back when I called our bank in Ok they said that they probably wouldn't I am suprised that one bank did (forgot who it did up above) but we made it to today and today is pay day and we should get our bank cards also. And the bank said they would send money if we needed them to here...but when I had talked to them last week I told them we would be fine and we are..LOL still had some money for Church even yesterday...amazing when you don't have access to your money you make it just fine huh? LOL weather wise I don't see me driving home anytime soon...hoping maybe Brian and I can get to KC later this week I was driving home wednesday but if the weather does what it says here and in OK I am not going anywhere....
