Weird- postal delivery on Sunday!

I sold a few things on Ebay last week, they closed on Thursday and I mailed the paid-for ones on Friday. Do you know, one of my buyers got her box delivered USPS on Sunday? She lives in Illinois. How's that for fast service??? I sent it Priority mail, but Monday would have been fine. lol I did not know that the PO delivered on Sundays anywhere, did you???

She and I were both surprised and tickled by that. :)

I've never seen a PO open on Sunday or gotten mail on a Sunday. Maybe they're working extended hours during Christmas? I read that they'll be delivering Express Mail even on Christmas Day.

I am LOL at Krista's remark. And also Lilo's. How true. I carried mail during Christmastime. That was back in the days before you drove a little truck a few doors and then back in the truck. We had big, leather pouches filled to overflowing and trudged every step of the way through the snow. Every other mailbox had a bunch of cards stuffed in it to bring back to the postoffice to mail and some of them didn't have stamps on it, just a few dollars pinned to the envelopes. So, I got to buy their postage and post them myself. I have never been so cold, for so long in my life. Try that with the postal service now. LOL. I'll never forget one letter I was casing......this was back when zip codes were first coming on the scene. It was addressed to Old Clem Doe........the big old house next to the barn off Hereford road, Podunk Missouri. All names have been changed to protect the guilty. And it got delivered. Like I said.......try that with your mail now! Ah yes, men and Christmas. They revert to their little boyhood and expect the magic to happen all around them. Oh.......yes..........sometimes they'll carve the meat.

F4F: RA's garden must be fantastic. Loved the pictures she posted showing HG above the pond. Boy would the raccoons love a pond in my backyard!! LOL. Dweeb: WM Dead, dead, dead. Skin has slipped off and nothing but pale bare "wood". Bums me out so! But I do have a few other Brug "Sticks" still planted and I'm hoping they are busy doing stuff under the soil! (such as New Orleans Lady, Painted Lady, and Miss Emily MacKensey ... three brats!!) BTW: New little IS is holding her own. Still green and not shriveled! She sits on heat mat all nite. Because our weather has "cooled" (70s) during the day, I put her out onto the warm cement in the sunshine (our sunlite is watery, not burning, this time of the year). Then back into the house and on the heat mat. The SQs seem to be happy, crazy girls ... they luv everything!! Thanks for sharing them all with me. I am trying my best to become a Brug grower, but Boy, this has been a heart break season for me. Gloria

Last year sent DGD a pkg priority mail. She should have received it within 2 days. She lives 6 hours from me.When she didn't get the pkg by the 4th day we both started checking for it.At her po they first told her it never came in,even though it showed on line what time her po rec'd it.Then when they checked further, her mail lady says "oh i think i delivered it to the wrong address, and i don't know how i did that as you(my GD) gets more pkgs than anyone else on my route".She went to the persons apt where she knew she had delivered it,and they claimed she didn't deliver it to them. When she told them she knew they did, they wouldn't return it to her. I had sent GD some clothes for the kids, some personal items for her and i had put 40.00 into and envelope for her.The PO threatened the other folks with with holding their mail, pressing charges against them etc, they wouldn't budge. So the PO finall gave my GD a reimbursement for the pkg,not what it was actually worth as they said i shouldn't have sent cash in the mail.(my bad) Since then anytime i send pkgs i pay the extra and get signature confirmation. Hope your seeds show up!! Kathi

Good afternoon, y'all! I've been up and out since 9 this morning for our sorority. A friend and I drove over to Kemah/beach area to the Hilton where our sorority was having an Arts & Crafts day and board meetings. We just went to sell ESA aprons that one member made. We sold a lot of them, and we shopped a LOT! Every chapter had at least one table and sold handmade items from small bags of snacks to fruit cakes, quilts, painted items and lots of Christmas gift items. I bought decorated gift baskets to hold my homemade fudge for neighbor gifts this year, goodies to include in my WV friend's Christmas box, and soup mixes, jellies, pickles, and chili mixes to include in stockings. One chapter was selling paperback and hardcover mysteries, and I really stocked up there! Once I read everything, I'll donate the books for our community Expo in January where we (ESA) have a table and pass out literature about St. Jude hospital and try to earn $$$ to send to them. We sell the books for 50 cents each, and last year we were able to mail St. Jude a check for $33.50! Viki and I stopped on the way to the event at a Tuesday Morning store and had a blast mostly just lookingm too. Once I rest a bit, I have to fix my corn casserole to take for the covered-dish luncheon at church tomorrow. I love that stuff, but it's terribly fattening, so I'll just make a very small dish of it for us and the rest for tomorrow. Tikanis, I like how you emphasized 'considering'! Happy puttering to you! Raeanne, you get to attend some neat sounding parties. Things aren't quite that upscale around here, but that's alright. It is what it is, right? Suzanne, that video was a hoot! Thanks for posting it. Glad you finally spotted your fox! The dr. told hubby to continue eating red meat because his hemoglobin count has dropped some, so we're having grilled steak and baked sweet potato (me) and red potatoes (hubby) and salad for dinner. I'm already hungry as lunch at the event wasn't all that exciting or filling. Once he gets that grilled fired up, I'll be ready to eat! Wishing everyone a relaxing Saturday evening!

Yeah, they deliver every day the week before Christmas here too. They said they don't do it for us, but they would be overwhelmed with packages if they didn't.

They do it in PA...using their own cars. It's not the regular mailman that's on the route,so probably BIGTIME overtime! I'd do it if I was them.....LOL!

Last year one of our members sent me a beautiful green soup tureen shaped like a chicken and it was delivered early Christmas morning! The mailperson was afraid it was a Christmas gift and didn't want someone being disappointed......I was impressed, to say the least!

My sister's a mail carrier. Certain types of mail are delivered on Sunday year round. When she was first hired, she had to work almost every Sunday--and said what a waste of money it was for people to pay extra to have mail delivered on Sunday to businesses that weren't even open that day. But still, if it's priority mail, they have to make the attempt.

When I lived in Santa Fe (Texas...not New Mexico) but back then the little town was called Aracadia...the post master they had for awhile, put up mail on Sunday. He did that routinely. I guess it came in after it closed on Saturday, and he just came to the post office and put the mail up. This was only in the post office...not to the mail on the route.
However, when he retired, due to illness, no one else did it.
I was amazed to get mail on Sunday. This was just regular first class mail.

Been here in CA for 30 years and never ever got mail on Sunday. My sister is hoping her package to us gets here from FL today. She was late mailing it.

I got a package delivered Sunday. It was only a DVD movie, not even a Christmas present. My sister works for the US Postal Service in Springville NY. When they get packages in Dec 24, they deliver them all even if it means using your personal vehicle and working "off the clock." Real sweeties!
