This cactus came from the King Ranch in South Texas...it was only about 2 years old when this was taken...It's about 8 years old now and is huge...The stems or paddles that are quite small here in this photo are now as large as dessert plates at least 6 inches across...and it is covered in a mass of blooms when it is time for it to bloom...It is an amazing site to see...This year, I am going to divide it and put it into a couple more places on the property. As angels go, she is pretty pathetic, but this is the one that has topped our tree for 56 years. She and the stars around her were attached to the bow on my very first Christmas present from the man I would marry in 6 months. The large yellow star is one of many ultra light tree decorations that daughters made in 1981 with 'Shrinky Dinks' for a Norfolk Island Pine that was our tree for several years.

Going through some of my very old photos, and this was one of the few I'd forgotten. This dachshund was quite a character; exhibiting a typical dachshund's idea of fun.
