Now that's cool! I always wondered if everything works in the houses when they are done that fast. Mine was built in 6 months and i had a list of stuff that needed fixed.

I wonder about that too, like they put the roof on in bad weather, wonder if it'll seal? Who knows..probably little glitches will show up.

My DH says those people have to pay taxes on those houses fairly soon after moving in, and on the vehicles they are given. He says how do they have enough money to do that? What do ya'll know about this?

I wouldn't want them to build me a new house...because they always go overboard on the house...I don't want an extravagant home...

I love my home...but I'd really like to have a room added on back for my exercise stuff (that I don't use) and my crafts and an ironing board in the wall...lol

And I'd like the rest of my home finished.

It would be nice to have it paid for again.

It was paid for when we moved here...now due to getting messed up in the business. We now owe $120,000. on it.
And we are too old to ever pay that off. It totally ruined things for us....

Live and learn...LOL...I wish if we had to learn the hard way , we would have done it about 40 years ago...

They could call the show...Extreme Help Out or something...

To ensure that he could afford a big, new house for himself and his eight children, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" conducted a thorough check into his financial background, according to Wofford.

Someone's financial history is only one part of an extensive background check. The show investigates every aspect of a potential subject's life.

Strack contends that the background check "is the same as if you were applying for a job at the FBI."

Veronica Ginyard, a resident of Capitol Heights, Md., whose family was the subject of an episode, says she had to provide court records to back up her contention that she was the victim of domestic violence at the hands of her ex-husband.

"You have to prove your story," Ginyard says, "and I don't blame them one minute for that.

Once vetted, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" pitches a family to ABC executives who make the final decision. A family doesn't actually find out whether it has made the cut until the day host Ty Pennington and his crew arrives at their house."

That is so neat! Do you know when the show is going to air? I watch it every week with a box of kleenex beside me, ive never made it thru a show with out crying.

That is always so wonderful to me. I love that show and love how beautiful the houses are and how happy the recipients are. Susan, did you know this family?

These are built on what is called critical path, meaning every step is carefully planned. Not only that but is also timed so that every person knows what their job is and exactly when they are to do it. Normally, a construction company might be a crew of 4-6 people working on a house, plus they have to wait for the licensed people, state inspectors, and such to show up to approve the various steps. Additionally, construction companies are working on more than one house at a time because there's a lot of down time waiting for the others. You see how many people are working on the houses for the show, somewhere around a hundred union labor personnel, license journeymen like electricians and plumbers, and onsight state inspectors.

That's a little misleading since it is obvious the family knows they are there. Maybe they give them a little headsup an hour or so before they actually arrive.

No, we don't know the family, there's been daily updates and pictures at online tv station, that's where I got the pics.

A business here has been hired to help out on this one. Their job was to go to the present home and pick up "Clothing and other textiles" to be laundered and dry cleaned. They will be taken to the new home on Monday and will be there when the new family moves in.

I know the young man who was assigned to that job. The company is a part of an international organization of textile restoration specialists.

The show will air some time next year.

They did one here in my town a few years ago.

I'm like Patti though,i think they overdo them.I mean like they make say an outerspace room ,or a ballerina room for kids that are still growing and will change their minds a thousand times before they grow up.So why not just give them a nice functional room,with a few things they like in it,but not lock them into that decor for years to come.

IMHO some of the rooms they do are downright gaudy,and totally unnecessary.

I say make them functional,and something that will last for a long time.

I also wonder what some of them look like after they've lived in them for a year or so,do the owners keep them up??
Just curious,but wouldn't ya'all love to go back a year or so later and see how they look??

The one they did in Minot, was so much appreciated. They used alot of local people and also helped the Dream Baseball field. That is where all the players have special needs. Very well supported here.
