~A Hole in the Wall and a Cute Corgi

It's been nearly two weeks and the new pup finally has a name:

Holly...as in 'Holly Hamhocks'.

She looks like a little pig when she's walking away from you.

Her little short legs go really fast (and don't cover much ground) and the tailless bum wriggles. If she were a pig, the wrigglers would be hamhocks. I started calling her 'Miss Piggy' in honor of those hocks but nobody else would.

Custer called her Shorty and Flop (One ear stands up; the other flops). I liked Patsy and called her that for part of a day. No one else did. Jesse always called her Roxie. I tried but could never remember it and called her Rosie. Digger liked Penney but no one else used that name.

I finally made an executive decision Sunday and announced her name, from that day forward, will be HOLLY HAMHOCKS...Holly for short.

I think we are, at the least, her third owner as she has some issues.

Her housetraining was, at best, questionable. My theory was she'd learned to use puppy pads and the house was for 'business' and outside was for 'play'. The first few days were a little rough. I had to keep her on a lease at all times so I could keep track of her. She would sneak off if I didn't. I am proud to announced it's been nearly a week since she had an accident in the house.

She is still on the lease though.

She'd learned how to 'come' when called but not really.

She'll get just about to you then run away when you reach to pet or pick her up. Her ignore function is highly enhanced.

The lease itself wasn't working as well as I liked so I've taken to carrying puppy kibble in my pocket and rewarding her when she comes when called. I've never had to do this with another dog but then this is the oldest pup I've had. Eight week old puppies respond very well to 'good puppy!' said in baby talk. A half grown pup not so much.

LOL

The other dogs are quite respectful of her...mostly because they can't intimidate her.

LOL

Holly can actually run Tuffy OFF from the food dish and Tuffy actually LEAVES. Gabby is just now trying to play with her. Gabby's puppies are due the end of this month.

I wonder if Gabby's interest in Holly is hormonal?

I hope my husband realizes what a low maintenance woman he has married. Just give me a reciprocating saw, a sheetrock knife, some two by tens and a book about electricity and I can entertain myself for days. Add a couple of gallons of paint, some tape, a roller, drop clothes and brushes and I'm entertained for six weeks or more!

Yes.

That's right.

I cut a hole in my wall.

This photo depicts where and how big my hole is.

The progress made that far was done by me, with a sheetrock knife, which was making my hands hurt.

The next day I went to town and bought a nine amp, DeWalt Reciprocator saw and took out the rest of the wall(s).

(Ours is a pre-manufactured home that is delivered in two pieces and assembled down the middle, length wise after it's hauled from the building yard. There are two sets of studs and two sets of sheet rock. It'll take four 2'x4'x5' boards to frame it and head it up.)

After a couple of hours with my new saw (and getting the hang of it. Those things kick almost as hard as a twelve gauge! I'm lucky I didn't black both eyes when I hit a sheet rock screw with it! LOL) I had by hole made:

From the kitchen side

from the living room side.

The sheetrock dust will be gone tomorrow.

I finished painting the living room tonight so tomorrow it'll be put back together. A trip to town this weekend we'll get us the materials to frame and trim it.

I LOVE IT!!!

Lori
