My pet peeve is misleading mascara advertisements

I've never understood why cosmetic companies are allowed to show pictures in magazines of a model advertising their mascara, when it is very apparent that the model is wearing false eyelashes. While the model may be wearing the mascara on her own lashes underneath the heavy false ones, there is never any disclosure that the model is wearing false eyelashes in addition, which seems rather unethical to me.

It doesn't appear that ads for haircare products use models wearing wigs, so I just don't get why the exception seems to be made for mascara.
