I've never watched her. Of course I don't do much cooking anymore either. And definitely don't watch much TV.

DH & I used to watch the cooking shows all the time, now he won't watch any, he can't stand Paula or Rachel. I still like them but there are many annoying things. Ever notice how Paula is always licking her fingers and then goes back to cooking, or having the dogs in her kitchen, petting them and back to the cooking?

I am not a Paula fan but have always loved Rachel Ray. She is starting to get to me tho, just a bit over the top and a bit too much.

So glad to know that I'm not the only one thinking along these lines about Paula. At one time, I wanted to take a weekend trip to Savannah, just to eat at The Lady and Sons. Definitely have no desire to do that now. If she was just selling her cookbooks, I could handle that. I'm sure she would make a ton of money off them alone. First, it was her over priced spices that annoyed me. Then, it was all about Smithfield products. Now it's rugs and ornaments. Of course, let's not forget the pots and pans and the kitchen gadgets. Can't these cooks just be satisfied to be famous and sell cookbooks??? Also, I'm getting really tired of seeing her on QVC when I'm channel surfing.

I think it's the unhealthy recipes that have turned me off. And the cackle. Rachel is darling, and I like her recipes better.

I never watched her show. I did see her on Iron Chef and she made a complete fool of herself. I thought she was drunk. Her eyes had a crazy spinning look. She kept spilling things. And she went over to the other contestant and bit his hand hard, and said she was "a snapping turtle". It was all so retarded. The judges gagged on her food.

I never have watched her show either. I saw her on another show one time, and that was enough. I do like Rachel Ray, and her show though.

I have a personal ethical issue with Paula and have not, will not EVER watch her or support her financially.

I'll let it go at that, don't ask--the incident was a few years back, no point in dragging it up now, but the woman has no pride, nor credibility in my eyes.

I used to watch her but she has gone so overboard on the "southern" think that she has made an idiot clown of herself. I love the southern accent in men and women but you will notice that her's is all a put on "over the top" accent that makes her sound like a fool.

Never like Paula Deen or RR. They both are about as phony as a 3 dollar bill. Their cooking is less to be desired also. Paula's is about as unhealthy as you can get and RR's is flavorless. They both can try and make as much money as they can in their time they have left. They just won't be getting any of mine. We carried RR cookware, knives and cookbooks in our store last year. Very little of it sold. Most was reduced to clearance. When that didn't sell we boxed it up and sent it to our discount store to sell. This year we have Paula's crap in our store. She's gotten to be a bit much, now.
Didn't care for her fixings at her restaurant in Savannah.

Paula now wears a silver-blue tinted wig, and turquoise colored contacts.
She isn't Paula Deen any longer. She is man made by Gordon Elliot now.
Her hanging all over her very young male guests makes me embarassed for her, and some have looked uncomfortable.(I know she is laughing all the way to the bank though.)
She was at a food show in Ohio and she actually threw ham meatballs into the audience.
I liked her class.
But she has turned it in for lots of money.

All the "TV" chefs have taken the same road. Martha is the first one to come to mind. Emeril, Wolfgang Puck, well, just about everyone of them are dealing everything from food to towels.
When I get tired of the same person, I just turn them off for a long time, then when they appear again I'm not so bugged! Paula seems to be everywhere though, it is hard to out run her. I imagine it's hard to come up with all new stuff when every BASIC recipe has been done and redone. I like to watch cooks who cook with some of the things I keep in my kitchen, not stuff I would have to order from the west coast.

The proliferation of TV channels would make producing income for each by its marketing dept. tough enough, were they splitting the same total amount of advertising pie - but it's tougher than that. The amount of the total advertising budgets allocated to TV is shrinking, as many agencies and companies are allocating a substantial portion of the total budget to internet exposure, plus other media.

With the anticipated economic slowdown, resulting almost always in a shrinkage of advertising budgets, each of the various carriers will be getting even less ...

... so there'll be more strident advertisig in future, I think.

More prolific, too: if they get less pay for each ad ... there'll be more ads.

Watch for attempts on the part of the TV guys to have limits on permitted advertising minutes per hour to be ... expanded.

Which agency regulates TV advertising limits ... is it the F.C.C.? In Canada it's the CRTC.

It might be a good idea to contact them, complaining about the number of ads on TV - and the amount of time that is given to them.

I was a fan. But when I watched a few of her Paula's Party shows, that was it for me. She once stuck her tongue in a chocolate fountain and went on to serve men in the audience from it. Ewwwwwwww. And she is an over the top flirt on that show...to the point of sexual references. If I want that, I will stay in my kitchen. LOL I am not a fan of the Neelys either. I can't watch them at all.

I posted, above my views on Paula. I don't mind RR too much, and Emeril also is full of himself. The one I like the most, is Sandra Lee, of Semi-homemade. Her short-cut cooking usually makes sense and have used a number of them.I'm not crazy about the neelys either. Dottie

I rarely watch any of the cook shows, but if they happen to be on the channel that is on when the tv is turned on I'm usually to preoccupied or to lazy to switch channels. Paula has given " the souther accent " a bad name. She's far more nasal than anyone I know and I do know a lot of people who speak more southern than I do. I enjoy listening to them, but a few minutes of Paula would cause me to have to excuse myself and go elsewhere.

I've only seen RR a few times and liked her okay, but it's been a couple of years since I last saw her.

I remember reading the cover of a gossip magazine one time while in line at a checkout counter that said her dh was cheating on her and they were getting divorced. Is that true? I never saw or heard anymore about it. Just curious.

Have to agree.... don't really like Paula Deen. Also, Rachel Rays voice just grates my nerves!!! She seems so fake on her show, like she kisses the celebs butts cause she doesn't know how to talk to them.... guess she is star struck.

I agree about Paula and Rachel. I am also getting tired of Oprah and Barbara Walters.

I don't watch her shows and can barely listen to her talk. That fake Southern Accent just really grates on my nerves. I don't know any true Southerners (including my relatives) who talk like that. Some of her recipes are delicious, but I don't think a single one could be classified as healthy!

I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one! LOL Paula used to be fun but now she just drives me crazy with that overdone accent. My boss wants to be her so everyone at work seems to worship Paula. I just smile and stay quiet (not an easy thing for me, I admit). Next time I hear it start up, I'll think of you nice people at KT and laugh quietly to myself. Thanks!

Like y'all, I'm sick of Paula. The constant sexual innuendoes have no place on a cooking show & unhealthly recipes are a turnoff for me.
Oh, and it's way past time for Rachel to grow up and leave the teeny bopper expressions behind.

I totally agree with Ya'll (sorry.... trying to be funny). I used to like Paula, but the phony accent and then the crawling all over the men... it is embarassing to watch. I live in Virginia, have relatives in SC and Georgia, and we/they do not have the very pronounced southern drawl. Not attractive at all. I have stopped watching the shows. ANd never really liked RR, or Emeril and his stupid BAM or whatever it is that he does that is so annoying. i agree with Dotmom... i like Sandra Lee. Yes sometimes her changing the decor to the color of the day is a little over the top, but for recipes that i would consider making since i am not a chef, i like her best.
