What the heck??? I'm not too smart, I guess.

My oldest received and MP3 player from her Dad this weekend for her birthday and I have been "killing" myself trying to figure out how to download stuff to it... Am I stupid...? Is there something I'm missing here...?

Do any of you have one? How did you download stuff to it?

Thanks in advance for helping the mentally impaired. lol

What brand is it?

I have a Creative Zen. I plug it in to the computer with USB cable and drag music from "my music" and add them to the Creative folder and then hit go. It does take a long time to download though.

LOL, Nicki, welcome to the club.

My MP3 player plugs in to the computer and then I use my CD's to copy to the MP3. But I have never downloaded anything off the web.

When I plug my MP3 in, a screen comes up with suggestions of what I can do. I used the copy music CD's option.

Awwwe! Thanks guys! Its nice to be back. Jenny, Nice to see you are still here! So there is ANOTHER "vine guy" here now huh? LOL! You see, im not the only nutcase thats obsessed with vines, lol! Im not exactly sure what im going to be doing this summer, or where im going to be doing it, but you can rest assured that there will be vines involved. I already have 6 MF seeds that are now just sprouting, and 14 MG seeds that are all sprouted too, and ready to go in thier starter pots. =o) Girlsaylor, thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate that. I just try and pass along what ive learned myself here or just from my experiences. Im not sure yet if there is anything I want or need that I dont already have, but rest assured that if I do come across something I want and cant easily find, ill definately be asking YOU! =o) Greenfrank, Yep. That would be me. The MF vine was growing into my bedroom window. LOL! And yes those were my storm photos. We had WAY more than out fair share of sever thunderstorms here last summer, and most of those photos were takin one night when we got hit by 5 severe thunderstorms in a ROW, one right after the other. I still dont know yet exactly what my living situation is going to be, but you can rest assured, as I said earlier, that I WILL be gardening, and it WILL include vines! =o) I will definately keep you all posted on what im growin and how its doing. I can tell you my Clematis has already come back, as well as my Catmint, and some of my hosta's too. Theres other things just randomly coming up on my balcony now, but im not exactly sure what they are. I belive that some of them are Catnip seeds, and some are the lambs quarters. Last year I allowed a couple of lambs quaters "weeds" to live on my balcony, but I dont think I will be do ing that ever again, as they are PROLIFIC seeders just like Catnip , and then some. I havent done anything to my balcony yet, its still in the same sad, sorry, and VERY MESSY state its been in all winter. I havent gotten started on it yet because I am unsure if I will be living there this summer or not, and I dont want to start my garden there only to have to take it all down when/ if I move. If a move is going to take place, it probably will happen before the end of may though, so Ill still have a whole summer to get stuff going. Right now, im just starting things for my S/O's balcony. He is also interested in gardening too, and wants to do a very nice garden on his balcony. So well both be d oing that together. =o) Thanks again for all the kind words!

Make sure the seeds never go dry but you also have to watch for rot. They are pretty easy to sprout. Much of the time a ripe pod will have seeds already sprouting inside of it. Once sprouted they need very high humidity and can't take any cold. If you don't have a greenhouse make some sort of tent to hold in humidity. They are fast growing and can produce pods in a greenhouse but only under optimal conditions. I get pods sent to me from the dept of agriculture in Puerto Rico. The last time they sent about a dozen pods, way more then I needed, so I decided to ferment and roast my own beans. It made a nice tasting drink. Nothing like the cocoa we are used to drinking because it hadn't been processed. I tried unsuccessfully to separate the cocoa butter. I'd have loved to have been able to get fresh cocoa butter. Good luck. It's a pretty tree.

Hello, been lurking a bit. Lots of good info here, thanks. FWIW, I agree that if the things you can't change are right and there is room in the price to do the rest ... thats a pretty good place to be. I knew the minute we walked into our current home, it would be ours, more than 20 yrs. ago. We had looked at a few dozen as I recall but the search was over when we got here. Since then we've added several investment props to the pile and since last fall have been looking for a new joint for us. Found an REO that is the only house of hundreds that can tick off every item on our list. Trying to convince the bank that they should stop holding on to it has been frustraiting, aggravating, stressfull etc. but now it is finally fun. They are offering counters in less than 24 hrs. and moving proposed closing dates up. Still not moving as much in price as they'll need to yet but it is vast improvement. Guess submitting the roofing bid and the well test did the trick :-) It kinda feels like I'm the lone bidder. Its got great bones and for us, a great loc. (acerage close to where we need to be). Its way more than we need but the lot, loc. and subdivision are pretty near perfect. Some minor damage from the eviction but I'm pricing that in and will order the full blown insp. once we have a deal. I was at the auction, I know the number ... they might get it but I'm thinkin not. There is a lot of inventory out there.

Rosemary, you need to be on Internet Explorer and then download Smiley Central to your toolbar. This is the way it works for me...When you want to add a smilie to your post, find the one you want, click on it, and then a message will appear that says OOPS...click on #2 and then click the button to copy the HTML, I also have to click to allow access to my clipboard, then I use the Ctrl and V and click in my post to insert it. When you do your preview you should see the smilie if you did it right. Let me know if it works for you! Barb

Nicki my cell phone has a built in MP3
player...I don't have a clue how to use it but I'd never listen to it anyway..

Only time I listen to music is when I'm in the car or home alone.

Well I'm right there with you - I had to ask a friend what exactly is an Ipod and is it like a Walkman. And this wasn't a while back - it was like last week.

I don't want to sound stupid, so I don't ask. Now I find out by 2009 all TV's will be HDTV's. Or so I was told. I don't know if that is true or not. What the heck is HD? High Definition? What's that? Will you 'old' TV's still work? I'm going to re-do the livingroom, and I want to put the big entertainment center (takes up to much of the livingroom) in the basement. And will be getting a large flat screen HDTV for the livingroom.

I kinda know what they are, and what they do, but don't have the foggiest clue as to how to get the music from a CD to the MP3 player. I bought a little 1 GB one to download some songs onto, to play while I'm on the treadmill - I figure about 50 songs would be more than enough - but I have to wait until my DGS stops over to get it downloaded. (Dragging myself slowly into the 21st century!)

I only kinda know how iPods work. You have to download a special program called iTunes onto your computer and then you can upload (or download? I don't know the difference) your cd's right on to the iTunes program. then when you plug the iPod into the computer and bring up the iTunes, it transers all the music right to the iPod. I assume most MP3 players have a program similar to iTunes to store the music before transferring it to the mp3 player.

You are a brave soul, I have no idea what to do with them. This summer I had booked a client on an Alaskan cruise and he called to ask if there was a 'docking station' in his suite for his iPod....I had no clue what the heck he was talking about but called the cruiseline to ask. They provided a complimentary iPod for his use and his butler would download whatever he wanted....LOL!!! So I still don't know what a docking station is for.

My first computer was a used laptop and they threw in the docking station with it. I never really needed it. I does give you extra plug-ins for peripherals.

Different brands of MP3 players are all different. I have a Creative Zen and it is so simple to use. Like
naughtykitty said, you can drag and drop it on the player or you can do a save-as to the player like any other file save.

Stand outside in your yard and yell for the nearest teenager...(thank god I'm blessed with boys and a husband who are computer geeks)...I woulda never figured out the IPOD...and I'da been right there along side of you!

It should have come with instructions, but if those have been misplaced already, you should be able to find an owner's manual online on the manufacturer's web site.

Nicki, I have a Zen Vplus and bought my daughter a Zen Stone
oops, forgot the first one for younger daughter - a zen M 30 gig (all Creative brand) the directions are usually easy to follow, I mostly "burn" CDs to mine, did some downloading with the free trials from emusic, and a few others but I went back to burning CDs I borrowed from the library

I'm 54 and if you can read, you can download!!! LOL

Come on... it's easy... hook the thingy to the thingy and hit the button. Clear as mud, right? Read the directions and when all else fails, give it to your youngest and she'll stumble on the right way to do it. Lol

Nicki - try this...

Plug in your MP3 player.

Go to MY COMPUTER and the device should show up there. Double click on that to open it.

Then open the folder you store your music in (MY MUSIC is usually where it goes.)

Select the songs you want by left clicking on the song title - to select more than one at a time, hold down the CTRL (Control) key. When you have what you want selected - right click and "COPY".

Then go to you device that you have opened and click "PASTE"

Now there are much easier ways - but this will get you going at least. Once you get the idea, it should work for you.

Also GOOGLE your specific MP3 player. I bet there are detailed instructions on how to load it on the 'net somewhere.
