I use gels specifically made for curly hair. Pantene Smooth Definition (for thick hair) is my new go-to gel, but I also use FX Curl Booster, depending on the humidity level. (Pantene is better when there's less humidity.)

My hair became pretty curly during menopause, but then after a few years, lost most of the curl. There is still some, but it is a lot softer than before. I towel dry it and put mousse on, then scrunch it. Turns out OK, as long as I have a wonderful razor cut.

I like John Frieda Frizz Free 3 day something...Might be called 3 day straight. Got mine at Target.

I have curly hair and I am also alergic to most stuff. What I do is put a tiny amount of coconut oil in my hands and then rub it in my hair when it's still wet. They I shape it and let it dry without touching it. When it's totally dry I have nice curls, no friz and it's very soft and not greasy at all, either. Then if you want to comb it or whatever it's nice and not frizzy.

whatever you do don't rub it dry with the towel...that will make it frizzy...just squeeze the water out of it and apply a product that has NO alcohol in it... that will make it stiff and dry your hair out!

I use Ban de Terre, recovery complex. It feels like an oil but it is the softest feeling oil I've had come across. I used to be able to pick it up at some stores but now just order it online. One bottle will last me 6 months.

I like Frizz-Ease mouse. I put on wet hair and use a very wide tooth comb. Don't towel dry.

It is a bit crunchy when dry, but if you run your fingers through to tousle - it softens right up. No frizzies~

They state it is like Redken Fresh Curls Spring Mousse, which I have never tried.

I too searched for a mousse that wasn't crunchy, when I saw a video ad on the net where a stylist put gobs and gobs of Captivation Curls in a woman's hair with assurance that it would never be crunchy. After the video I had to try it.

Now I couldn't be without it. You cannot add too much! You don't need a lot, but if you over apply, you don't have to worry about it! It never looks greasy or stringy, nor does it crunch! But the hold is amazing! And you hair feels softer for having used it.

I don't wash my hair daily, but I 'reactivate' it by misting my hair with water on day two, to smooth out any bed frizzes that I have.

I just fear now, that they will discontinue it, like any other product I find that I like. I may have to shave my head if they do. LOL

I always had wavy hair with a bit of curl that I was always trying to coax out. Then I decided to start straightening my hair - the curl fought back! Now when I don't straighten my hair, it's ridiculously curly, especially if it's humid. I use the same product either way - a frizz-tamer. I use one from Suave - their Sleek anti-frizz cream. I would definitely try the Captivating Curls suggested about - I've had great luck with Suave products but if you don't like it, you're not out a lot of money.

WEN by Chaz Dean...this is the best conditioning cleaner and leave in that I have every used. I have had curly ...frizzy..hair all my life. I usually use a product for about a year or less and it stop working on my hair...but not WEN ...it is awesome!!I have used this product for about 5 years...love it! Try it you will love it. You can purchase from QVC or online from Chaz Dean..cheaper at the Q and if you color your hair ...with this your color last and last..I just color my roots and haven't pull color through my hair in years.

I use Moroccan Oil Cream for Curly Hair. I stick my head under the tap and wrap it in a towel. I do not comb it. After a bit I apply a couple of pumps of the Curly Cream and just scrunch it with my fingers. I am hair dryer/diffuser challenged and have very thick hair. This product is hard to find in Toronto - the Moroccan oil itself is much easier to locate. The Curly Cream sells fast. Not cheap and only sold in beauty salons and certain beauty supply stores (the type you have in the U.S.) - but I expect price is better in U.S.. If you find it in a drug store it will most likely be fake. The colour is very pale apricot - that saved me once - the cream was white - a knock-off being sold by a hair dresser. My natural auburn hair turned iron grey in my mid 20s and with my pale but yellow-based complexion I do not suit grey - or any other colour (I tried on wigs). So I have single-processed my hair a medium auburn ever since (now 61) - avoiding mahogany or purplish shades like the plague since I don't suit them. For some reason this particular product works very well with the auburn hair colour. It is the devil to use though - it is in a pump - if ever a product should be in a jar, this is one of them.

I 2nd the Moroccan oil. I have both the cream and the original oil, I like the oil better. For drugstore stuff I like Garnier Fructis Curl Sculpting Cream-Gel.

And about WEN, Sally beauty supply sells a dupe called Hair One. It's $11.99.

Here is another recommendation for WEN. I am very frugal and WEN seems expensive at first. Now that I've tried it, I wouldn't be without it! I tried mine when they had it on a QVC special.
